Basketball started last Friday anyway.

Maybe if the exterminators would use their bug powder for killing bugs instead of shooting it intravenously, they wouldn't have this problem.

When the Great War comes and much of humanity is destroyed, bedbugs will remain to feast on the corpses of the survivors.

I wish I had some of that DDT stuff that almost got rid of them for good. The bedbugs have plenty of hippies to feast on in Lawrence.

That game last Thursday was reminiscent of the Terry Allen era beat downs, and Turner Gill reminds me a lotof Terry Allen, and that ain't good.

I highly doubt Nick Saban could do any better with the empty cupboard Fat Man left. I've had the misfortune of watching two Kansas games this year, and they are the one of the least talented teams I've seen so far in all of Div-1.

Bedbugs, nasty as they are, don't generally spread any diseases.

Personally, I'd rather keep our powder dry on DDT until we have some far more serious pest to deal with. Rather than breeding more-DDT-resistant bedbugs and other pests.

Of course, that takes a coordinated effort. Lots of the world still sprays DDT all over the place (or did until quite recently). Which is why populations of mosquitos, bedbugs, and a lot of other bugs are largely DDT-tolerant these days.

Well, when you take your best running back and make him a linebacker you're going to have some issues.

That said, they are significantly less talented than they were, but they don't play very damned hard either, and that's one thing they always did when the fat man was in town.

I respect your optimism. As a Missouri grad who rioted milled about drunk on the field after the 5th Down Colorado game my freshman year, I'm just incapable of hope. Not to mention OU has won 19 of the past 20 meetings I think.

The MU-OU game... not so sure.

The Border "Showdown"... that could be an incredibly painful experience for KU. Worse, it will be televised.

Rebuilding? Fine. First year forbearance? Fine. Hell, admitting KU is a permanent cellar-dweller and we just want an affable Christian family guy? Okay, I guess.

There's nothing about Turner Gill that justified a $2mm/year salary, though. Nor all his high-salary assistants. And every week is reinforcing that. If he wanted to return half that salary (that'd cover a couple of non-revenue sports) until he deserved it, I'd have no complaint with the man.

I'm not a shill for Turner Gill, believe me. And I had no idea he was being paid that much (yikes).

Just stating the obvious; Reesing, Briscoe, Aqib Talib, and some others who were legitimately good are long gone (cue Pitino's "Larry Bird is not walking through that door..."), and what's there currently looks like a Div-2 squad.

There is no excuse to get the barn doors blown off by K-State quite like that, though. You'd think a "rivalry game" alone would raise the level of play a little bit.

Call it a hunch

It's going to be brutal. Missouri is a lot better than K-State, and that was a drubbing.

Sports aside, does anyone happen to know which apartment complex is affected? Or any other apartment complexes for that matter. I just moved out of an apartment into a house so I'm mostly just amused.

This is actually good timing because I'm going broke paying this rent but now I can be a little happier while I eat my ramen soup for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

http://www.newsweek.com/2010/09/08/conservatives-blame-environmentalists-for-bed bugs.html

"But long before the United States banned most uses of it in 1972, DDT had lost its effectiveness against bedbugs-which, like many fast-breeding insects, are extremely adept at evolving resistance to pesticides."

DDT is ineffective. If it was, I would be for it but VERY controlled. People are stupid with this type stuff.

Actually going natural might be wise -- there is rumors that FOOD gradediatomaceous earth might help.

Anyone else find it stupid that the mom is allowing the girl to sleep in that room? Seriously?

going for shock value there, Marine1

hey, I saw frozen Shakespeare's at my local Hy-vee in KC the other day - whoa!

Well, at least it is better than the anal fisting they usually require new tenants to submit to before giving them the key to the front door.
