Capn - I'll admit I'm spewing tripe if you'll admit Falwell is spewing hatred (motard=gay feminist abortionist).

/how's that sabidurian?

2003-06-24 04:38:58 PM
that's why we have fark, guy. so the Xians can tell us how oppressed they are.

2003-06-24 04:45:18 PM
Chad...
If you'll read some of my earlier posts, I've already expressed my consummate contempt for Christians of their type. For you, I'll say it again; guys like Falwell and Roberts are giving Christians a bad name. Not entirely unlike guys like Bin Laden and Arafat giving Muslims a bad name.

Look Chad, I'm a DEVOUT Christian...I have a very strong faith. But I, and many more like me, would never push our beliefs on you! I'm not trying to do that now, nor have I at any point in this thread. Hell, I'm agreeing that this whole dress code issue is stupid! I would argue against the existance of Liberty University! HOWEVER, it is there perogitive. It's a free country and they can do as they please. We've got all kinds of whack ass organizations operating freely in this country...and you and I do not have time to argue about all of them.

capn_conservative,

we are not stopping Lib U from haveing their dress code,
we are only making fun of them illistrating it by means of a dumbass slideshow.

...
Liberals...funny smelling, or just plain funny...

Or better yet, let's play, when is capn_conservative's 10th birthday?

I'm guessing a few years off yet...

Bukhairn:

I'm well aware! I've been one of the ones making fun of it!

For instance: "Hey, isn't that Kim Cattrall?"

*shameless 80's movie reference.

2003-06-24 04:52:23 PM
Damn Conservative Media:

It may be..but momma said I could stay up till' at least 8 tonight calling you a poopy head.

2003-06-24 04:53:03 PM
Hey, isn't that Kim Cattrall?

I didnt get that at first (Had Sex in the City in mind...)
But now that you mention the movie... it's pretty funny.

2003-06-24 04:53:43 PM
ok. somebody's gotta say it

can't we all just stop getting along?

2003-06-24 04:55:21 PM
You gotta admit Bukharin...now that you've put the reference together...you kinda expect Andrew McCarthy to enter that slide show!

2003-06-24 04:56:47 PM
Matter of fact, if Damn Conservative Media will buy me a new computer for my 10th birthday...I'd html a picture of ol' Andrew McCarthy up there. Wow..he was one of the finest actors of our time. Remember Weekend at Bernies? Classic..pure classic.

2003-06-24 04:59:16 PM

Well... I didnt look at the male dress code.
I assume, as this dresscode seems rather dated,
that 80's duds would be quite acceptable.

2003-06-24 05:00:25 PM
I graduated from Liberty in 02' and I disagree with their dresscode, as did most people on campus.
Most of the kids there are just regular kids who party.
Some of them are devoted to the Christian life.
But most all of them are great people, atleast the ones I met.

Why are we always getting in people's business?

Well, to proclaim what we believe is the truth. If everyone thought the world was flat, wouldn't you be trying to convince them otherwise, ... even if they stood by and said you were trying to push your beliefs on them.
So, too, do we try to proclaim what the truth is. So will accept, others reject.
Granted, there are some really annoying so-called Christians out there, BUT it's interesting to me that a lot of the world hates to even hear the truths of the Gospel spoken.
Which confirms my faith even more.

1 Corinthians 1:18
"For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."

2003-06-24 05:00:41 PM
That type of school turns out empty minds.

2003-06-24 05:02:19 PM
TheMikey,

if you said "simple minds" it would have stuck with the 1980's theme.

2003-06-24 05:02:32 PM
That's certainly a better answer than "shut the fark up". If you had let Falwell and Robertson take the rap for everything wrong with Christianity earlier, we probably wouldn't have had this discussion. I should have realized that devout Christians don't contribute to the problems at all.

2003-06-24 05:04:26 PM
Bukharin

Nothing like doing to a mannequin that looks like Kim Catrell. Though you're probably going to have to prep her with a drill bit. Is that considered forplay?

There's no arguing with logic like that.

keylock71

I would gladly spill seed on a Kim Catrell "realdoll."

dillinghamdude: If people do not believe in your god, why wouldn't they be annoyed. Once again, you act like your religion is the end all/be all.

2003-06-24 05:06:59 PM
Chad:
I wouldn't let them take ALL the blame for things that are wrong with Christianity. I say Bin Laden is the cause of all things wrong with Islam. And I certainly wouldn't hold it against Colonel Sanders for changing the original recipe. I would issure a BROAD generalization by saying that its usually a bad apple that spoils the whole bunch. Cliche anyone?

"Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: it transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural & spiritual, and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual, as a meaningful unity."
- Albert Einstein

2003-06-24 05:07:28 PM
I did better in a Catholic private school than in any of the public ones, the environment is SO much nicer and friendlier which helps a lot with personal growth.

2003-06-24 05:08:49 PM
If you didn't think your religion was the end all/be all...it wouldn't be much of a religion. As for forcing it on others...that's a bunch of crizap. Everyone should be allowed to believe/disbelive as they farking well please.

2003-06-24 05:09:19 PM
dillinghamdude -

But it still comes back to the question - what is more important, your proclaiming what you believe is the truth or my right to not have religion intrude on my life. I don't ask to have Christian pamphlets placed on my windshield while I'm in the grocery store.

2003-06-24 05:09:57 PM
...personal growth.

In the pants?

2003-06-24 05:11:53 PM
Southern Baptists, like me, are not required to evangelize. It's not like the Mormon's or J.W.'s. But, we don't try to hide our faith for fear of offending someone, either. I don't know many Southern Baptists, other than pastors, who go door-to-door. Incidentally, my wife went to L.U. and the dress code is followed, but it is sort of a joke and a nuisance among students.

So you're saying that its more important for people of faith to respect YOUR beliefs/rights than it is for you to respect THEIRS? Your argument is selfish and ignoble. While I AGREE with you that people that push their views are asshats! That includes atheists, feminists, republicans, democrats, Christians, Muslims, etc.. and people who like Tab.

2003-06-24 05:14:21 PM
For the love of all that is good, why can't we just point our fingers and laugh at silly people anymore?!?!

2003-06-24 05:17:42 PM
people who like Tab.

those are the farkers who really piss me off.

2003-06-24 05:19:19 PM
Which is worse....

Tab soda.... or Moxie?

2003-06-24 05:20:18 PM
Yeah Keylock..they're always whining with their "We LOVE tab...everyone should drink TAB!"
Bastards!

2003-06-24 05:20:27 PM
Farking Tab drinkers. You'll be the first against the wall when the revolution comes...

Rosalea: as long as they don't try and press these rules on everyone else, who cares what they wear. Let them do what they want. Mores skimpy clothes and jeans for me.

...If only they didn't try to press these rules on everyone else! Who do you think is hard at work trying to outlaw porn, shutdown strip clubs, make sure you can't ever smoke a legal joint, legally fark a hooker, gamble, swear on television, sodomize your boyfriend or anything else that conflicts with their agenda. Who was it that got prohibition passed? Fundie Christians. It goes on and on...

Please. Until religious drones leave the rest of us alone, then they will be the subject of our unyielding derision.

Heck, I forgot all about them trying to make Tab part of our government! Now I understand why so many folks hate Tab.

AMEN!

Less preaching, more sodomy and porn!

2003-06-24 05:29:28 PM
Yes, the world could use more sodomy, prostitution and porn! I just hope its all still here for my kids!

2003-06-24 05:30:41 PM
Look, Capn - I can respect the rights of people to have their beliefs. In fact, I don't even WANT to know what their beliefs are. My belief is that your relationship between you and your god is a private matter, not a public one. You go ahead and have your private relationship with god and everything's cool. When your private relationship with your god intrudes on my private life, I think that's shiatty, because I don't have the same relationship with either you or your god. If I'm willing to let you have your beliefs, why can't you be willing to let me have my beliefs.

I'm asking why Christians seem to think the word of god is more important than my privacy. I'm not saying one is more important than the other, I'm saying the rights of each person should be equal. And that, I believe, equates rather well with "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". The simple fact is, I don't want anything to do with evangelical public Christians; if they would likewise leave me alone there would be no problem.

2003-06-24 05:31:31 PM
Make sure they're 18, though! That way, they know what they're doing!

And don't knock sodomy until you try it, and don't forget prostitution is probably the oldest profession. ...I wonder if they're still hiring? Hm.

2003-06-24 05:32:50 PM
Well Chad, that's how I feel about telemarketers. But they keep callin.

2003-06-24 05:33:56 PM
Alright - 3 quick notes...

One of my best friends is from Lynchburg and took us home with him one weekend while we were at U of Richmond (the most opposite college on EARTH). We drove around the campus heckling people yelling "Feed the Christians to the Lions" for fun. Ah, the memories.

Can we all agree that if you stick to the 10 commandments you're not going to be too far off? Irregardless of what religion you're a part of as long as you're not a crazy fundie, those seem to be a part of everyone's vernacular.

I tend to believe that organized religion has been horribly distorted to serve those in power at various times...can anyone say "Inquisition?" IMHO, keep it private and one-one-one...and the only one you can disappoint, lead astray, answer to, and judge is ultimately yourself.

2003-06-24 05:35:04 PM
Alright, I'm out. Nice farking with you all.
Chad...I look forward to seeing you on another thread. I think we're hitting the nail with the same hammer...but neither of us is willing to admit it. At any rate...you've kept a cool head and I appreciate that. Later.

2003-06-24 05:38:57 PM
Viva la Porn!
Viva la Prostitution!

Viva la....

umm actually I could do without the sodomy.

2003-06-24 05:39:10 PM
Yeah, but replace telemarketers with fundamentalists who think my lifestyle is wrong and want to substantially change my daily private matters because they think I'm evil, and you're starting to get the idea.

HELL NO!

Read those things again.

Issue them all sailor suits! Sailor suits I say!

2003-06-24 05:46:22 PM
Christians are gay.

2003-06-24 05:49:58 PM
Not all Christians are ghey. Just their spiritual leaders.

2003-06-24 05:51:08 PM
omegaquila: AMEN! Less preaching, more sodomy and porn!

In the new church I'm starting, The Church of the Decadans, all attractive new female members will be required to sodomize the holy father until they get, uh, baptized...

Spiritual weiners are gay.
