Yes Carol, God killed those girls because of you, you egotistical little coont.
fark, a couple kids die and it's still all about you, you, you, you.

Pathetic.

The 18-year-old frets over little things -- why didn't she play with them when they'd asked?

Days before the accident, Carol told her tomboy sister Beth, 11, she'd teach her how to put on makeup "later."

Well, later was too late, Carol said.

The girls died April 14, 2007, en route to Concordia University for its "Gathering of Talents." Beth and Erin, 7, were to sing solos at the festival.

"I felt like they died because I pushed them away," Carol said. "I thought it was God's punishment."

Yes, there you go. God murdered two innocent children to teach you a lesson, because you wouldn't show one of them how to put on makeup.

THIS IS WHAT PEOPLE WHO USE SPIRIT PHONES ACTUALLY BELIEVE

I think some folk really need an intensive six week course on what it means to actually be dead.

When I was 10, one of my mother's friends died in a car wreck; I wondered what would happen if I called her number. The number was disconnected of course, but then a minute or two later after hanging up, the phone rang. It was a bill collector asking to speak with my maternal grandfather ... who died 20 years earlier.

You know what's really gonna flip your lid is that unpaid debts are invalid after 7 years.
That can only meant that the debt collecter had died some years prior and was calling from the grave... a ghoul sent by demons to collect a bill.... woooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooh

God damn how I hate these farkers.

Turning peoples grief into a sideshow. Allot of these are people who cannot handle with the pressing sadness due to their loss. It is not a sane thing, In fact it probly is one of the most insane moments of your life to loose someone you love.

Then farkers with special radios and woo woo swoop in during the most insane and horrible event in your existence, With messages from beyond!. only 79.99 per minute callers standing by!

Monstrous and evil they prey on the fear and sadness of a loved one gone for a few minutes of fame, Or worse. there are many stories about people who have lost their entire savings to people like this.

Don't blame the victim. That sort of pain should not be mocked. However the guys with the "radio of the dead"

What? And have them call your cell 100x a day during PEAK usage or late at night... even if the phone's OFF?

I wouldn't want to risk it.

There's a play I saw years ago that focuses on various people in the Anglican Church. Types, really, but very well-written for types. One of them is the young zealot priest. His parents died rather horribly when he was young -- house fire or nasty accident or something. He agonized over it for years until finally "realizing" that God took them to bring him to the Church.

This is the big problem with the platitudes "everything happens for a reason" and "it's all according to God's plan". You have to realize that even if you believe in God and in a God who has a plan, some shiat still just happens. It's not "for a reason" that your kid dies or you can't have kids at all (well, probably not, anyway). It's not for some greater plan that you just got diagnosed with lymphatic cancer. Go ahead and find meaning. Go ahead and MAKE meaning. Go ahead and use the bad to make something good. But if you insist on blaming/crediting God for everything that happens, you're almost bound to find some way to make it all about God punishing or rewarding you.

Interestingly, the spirit phone predates our conventional telephone by 30+ years, yet still hasn't perfected call-waiting.

You must have then been struck by a laser, digitizing you, and drawing you within the world of the computer, where programs are living entities, which live or die by the dictates of a malevolent overseeing program.

During the 1970s, I used to manage an occult bookstore and there were so many rumors about Edison's psycho-phone you couldn't keep them straight.
The best one was that Edison had built a fully functional psycho-phone and turned it on, allowing a continual flow of somethings from the other side to cross over to here to cause us all kinds of grief. The punchline was that there was no off button.
Supposedly, there was a connection between Edison's psycho-phone and the Carla Moran incident Link (new window)

Plus God ends up coming off as a dick.

Well, either that, or somehow pathologically unable at coming up with any plots that don't involve having a bunch of people getting horribly mutilated along the way. Kind of like a cosmic Roald Dahl, but with more of the victims being the pure-hearted kid protagonists, instead of the big meanies.

Did somebody say ghost hunt?

That device is actually called Frank's Box.
When I was in my early teens my grandfather called our home phone a week or less after he died. Myself, my brother and my mom all spoke to him. Well actually listened, it was a one-sided conversation. I know all the "normal" people will scoff at this but until you experience something like that you have no understanding of what it's like. I have had 3-4 unexplained things happen to me just after a relative or friend died. I do paranormal investigations here in Portland and am pretty sure that most of the non-believers would either be too scared to do it or run out screaming in the middle of the night. It's actually pretty interesting and a lot of fun.
