Wow. If half of the teams move up or down around 6 spots in a week in your Power Rankings, it's time to re-think how you do power rankings.

Say what you will, Rapey Ben wins.

Also, look for the Chiefs to shock the world this week, beat the Colts, finally get some respect, then promptly get beat by 50 in Houston the following week, you heard it here first.

Hmm, oddly high I would say for KC, but at the same time, last undefeated really doesn't correlate to winning the conference. I was trying to work up something based on last year's division winners, but they're a collective 16-14 this year and that metric eliminates 25 of 32 teams. Also, out of all the division winners, only New Orleans and New England are above .500.

So I'm out of ideas.

As I recall he hasn't even been allowed to practice with their active roster players. That's going to cause Favre-like timing issues.

Good point. I'm assuming he gets to practice with them during the bye, right? Plus they play the Browns after. The sked gets tough after that, so he's got basically 2 weeks to get on the same page with everybody. Interesting.

Odds to win the 2011 AFC

The 2 teams that jumped out as being undervalued are the Chefs at 19/1 and the Broncos at 40/1.

I don't think either team will win anything, but with an NFC West schedule and the Chefs being 3-0, I can see them at least making the playoffs as a wild card.
Same for the Broncos, only a lot less so. I would think at this point they'd be 25 or 30/1.

Fun to look at, though.

Isn't the Chiefs' opponents' records thus far something like 3-9? They're 3-0 but it's not a strong 3-0. Sort of like the Lions are 0-4 but it's not a fruitless 0-4.

Happy to see the Steelers didn't just get thrown under the bus for that loss considering how close it was and how Jeff Reed's liver cost us a chance to reach overtime. #1 is still a bit high.

Saints and Packers are too sloppy right now to be 2 and 3.

Bill Belichick may be struggling with his defense, but he has no concerns about the offense and special teams. (Clayton)

The defense that picked Henne 2-3 times, returning one for a TD, and allowed just two scores? I think 'struggling' is a bit strong now.

They lost, with their 3rd string QB, in the last minutes of the 4th quarter, by 3 points, to one of the best teams in the AFC. I don't necessarily think they should be at #1 but while they're there I don't see who would topple them after this week. The Ravens should be up there, but they had a horrible Week 2 and almost lost in week 1.

Jets should be higher. They had a shaky start as well but they've been probably the most consistent team in this bizarro league of inconsistent teams. They have a pass game, a run game, and a defense. None of these areas they're perfect on, but they're above average across the board.

Ravens should be higher as well for the above reasons, and the Patriots (embarrassment with the Bills notwithstanding) just need to keep focusing on their defense.

If the recent Cowboys game is an indication of future performance (i.e. actually demonstrating the depth of talent they have), then I'd spot them high as well.

So fair enough, perhaps I won't knock down the Saints and Packers much, but they've been pretty darn shaky the last few weeks.

Meh, you could make a good case for any of the 3-1 teams, especially this goofy year.

I think the Chefs should be ranked ahead of the Colts, but that's the only truly bad call I see here.

The Saints have been shaky, and yet they are 3-1. I don't think they are playing like the second best team in the NFL right now, but even as flat as they have been, they are one missed FG away from being 4-0. They are going to have to cut down on the turnovers and dropped passes on offense, though, because the secondary is getting depleted by injuries fast.

That last bit is my biggest concern with their longevity. Their offense, as well, considering Bush is out for a few weeks and Thomas is banged-up, meaning their run game won't provide enough of a threat to allow them a strong pass game.

Ivory and Betts ran well this weekend. On the first drive, I think they racked up more rushing yards than they averaged in the first three games. Turnovers killed them in the first half with Moore fumbling on the one and Ivory fumbling as he entered the red zone. But, Thomas should be back soon, Bush is reportedly healing ahead of schedule and should be back by the time Pittsburgh comes to town, and I think they should handle Arizona, Tampa and Cleveland in the meantime.

Bush should be careful. Coming off of a broken leg with his style of running, jumping, sharp cuts, and bouncing around, coming face to face with the exceptionally violent Pittsburgh defense? Hell, I'd keep him out of the game rather than risk his season.

Bush doesn't need to have any carries. He just needs to be in the backfield. Forcing defenders to focus two defenders on him is his main value to the Saints' offense
