(Examiner) Video The newest "Skyline" trailer proves once and for all that an alien-based apocalypse will be so much cooler-looking than a zombie-apocalypse. Bonus: Aliens stomping sports cars   (examiner.com) divider line 172

KhamanV: Apple Trailers (new window) with the second teaser available. So you don't have to try and figure out where this dipshiat's hid the link to the video.

Also, tell the dipshiat that Myspace camwhore portraits are so old now, I saw one farking his grandmother in dry slow motion.

This.

1. Lurk Fark
2. ???
3. Profit!

Meh, so someone figured out step 2. It is kinda funny when he pops into a thread to say he fixed an article link or whatever :P But if someone could explain to me, what exactly is he doing that's all that different then our fearless leader himself? Acquire link to desirable content, encase it in own branding/profit generation methods, repost to masses. And hey at least he's trying to add to final product instead of just encourage others to do all the work for him. :P

Unless there is some genuineness to that theory that he's able to redlight links to then later greenlight himself, that'd be super shady and a dick move for sure. Btw ever see how many redlit links go through for the same story before a green emerges? Sometimes its ridiculous.

(Not trollin, but devilin' for sure)

I don't see how anyone can be excited to see this film.

The bad acting and dialogue are measurably awful.

Wow. Got all that in 2 minutes, huh?
You must be a great gimmick at parties.

shoegaze99: That writer is a Farker.

Yes, PunkRockGirl even said so.

I[heart]Chaos is run by Cranberryzero - who used to be a very prolific Fark photoshopper. Do you biatch whenever one of his links is greenlit?

Big deal. Lots of people submit their own stuff. Do you think the Boobies links are not submitted by the porn site owners in order to drive traffic?

And it's hard to imagine it's gone unnoticed behind the scenes.

I'm not saying it's unnoticed. I'm saying the modmins prefer greenlighting links, even if the submitter is a douchebag - not saying CB0 is a douchebag - rather than not having anything to greenlight.

bobbette: KhamanV: No, guys, I am going to hold the fact that this guy directed AvP: Requiem against it until I hear more. It looks like an okay movie that got stuck with a full-saturation blue/orange filter, a shiatty romantic subplot, and an effects guy that thought the critters in The Mist were cool, but now we can make them actual aliens.

Seriously, as a woman that likes science fiction and action movies, no longer a rare breed, stop thinking that wedging in some horrific excuse for kissy-kissy is going to make me go see your piece of shiat.

Give a couple shots of half naked men (Thomas Jane as The Punisher, fark yes), blow some shiat up, and have a decent plot. Thank you, and fark you.

/husband loves that my idea of a chick flick is Sin City.

Don't be that girl who boasts about how she's into typical guy sh*t and how she has her boyfriend/husband's approval. You can actually say that you like something without turning it into a bragging occasion which simultaneously justifies your interests based on a guy's opinion. It just seems like you crave to be approved of by men all the time, which is probably not your intention.

This is an interesting response to come back to when I was checking back on the Wamplerization of Fark this morning. No, it is decidedly not my intention to brag about my preferences. I have a problem with the current use of demographics and gender assumption when piecing together entertainment.

These assumptions cater to the lowest common denominator (chicks like romance! Let's wedge it in and get a couple extra butts in the seats) and I find it wearying and insulting and very detrimental to the final product.

Perhaps my phrasing was off in this thread, but I want more women out there saying shiat like this so that the next generation of twelve year old girls have a more educated consumer/advertising field. Then they have a better chance of getting that Dragon Quest 17 they asked for at Christmas instead of Imagine Babies 3-D! CyberEdition! that some dolt thought would be better for her.

roflmaonow: BigSnatch: vinnydoz007: These directors did AVP requiem, easily one of the worst movies ever.

It was far better than the first AVP. Not much of a compliment but still...

Thats really saying something since I saw Requiem and not the first one and Requiem blew all kinds of animal dicks.

You should watch it just because it is that bad.

Trailers always feature the best lines and visuals in a film -- you have two minutes to sell the movie so you use your best stuff. If that's the dialogue and acting they're using to market the film, well, that's pretty freaking scary.

IAmNotRickMoranis: oldebayer: I saw a trailer for Monsters this morning. It looks pretty good, as well.

"Monsters" is OnDemand right now, and it's pretty good. There aren't a lot of monsters in it-- between the absurdly low-budget, which was about $20k, and the attempts to ape "Jaws" (and about three other Spielberg movies)-- and the ending's pretty weak, but overall it was really solid.

They've hyped it as this year's "District 9", but even though it looks great (looks like it cost about $40-50m), the acting's solid, and the monsters themselves are kinda cool (and Cthulu-esque), it doesn't come close to being as good as "District 9".

But worth seeing.

/My $.2

You have very poor taste in movies.

And you sound fat.

I think that if aliens sucked up LA residents they'd spit them back out like a dog will spit out medicine.

AiryAnne: At first I was "meh"

Then the Ferrari thing happened, everything after that looked pretty awesome.

Cloverfield + Independence Day = Skyline?

Me too. At some point in that trailer I went from "meh" to.... "Holy shiat! Sweet alien apocalypse!"

AvP Requiem or not... I'm definitely interested in this.

shoegaze99: Flab: So he submitted 10 stories and got 3 greenlit.

I think you misunderstand. This isn't a person who gets a lot of articles greenlit. Who cares about that? Lots of people are good at writing Fark-worthy headlines.

These are all articles BY the same guy. Close to 40 in the last week, according to what someone posted about, all "written" by the same person. Whenever you see an Examiner link, 9 times out of 10 it will be the same author, i.e. Wampler. Every time. Out of thousands and thousands of Examiner writers, Fark gets multiple pieces by the same writer every day.

That writer is a Farker.

And he makes money on those links.

The issue isn't that someone gets a lot of links through, the issue is that somehow or another, someone is gaming the system for profit. And it's hard to imagine it's gone unnoticed behind the scenes.

No one cares about a prolific submitter. That isn't the issue.

Exactly. I for one would welcome a dozen greenlights a day submitted by, and commented by PocketNinja. Guy's entertaining. Same goes for any good science/evo threads done by abbw or the Fark Anti-Creation Brigade.

However, if these individuals were taking other more qualified articles, rewriting them under their own byline, then preferentially greenlighting them on Fark for personal profit (with or without douchetastic profile pics), then they're lower than hammered dogshiat and must be excised from Fark like a malignant tumor deep within the colon.

This is the first I've heard of this and it royally sucks. It takes everything we like about Fark, combines it with something we marginally tolerate (sponsored links) and screws it over.

Samwise Gamgee: I've seen this movie before. Jeff Goldblum and the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air kill the aliens with a Macbook.

Yep, and it was awesome. This movie will be just as good, with the acting being just as bad. Cant wait! I'll be there day 1 just like ID4. Love me some alien movies.

Anyways, what was I actually going to say? Oh yeah. I've always preferred zombies to aliens. Aliens should be super cool, but usually alien movies suck. I think it's down to production values: to do an alien movie you really need to spend more on special effects, and perhaps other vital elements of production get neglected, or they aim for a PG rating. Whereas with zombie movies, you really just need good makeup and a lot of extras for special effects, and you have room for lots more creepy chase scenes and hand-to-rotten-stump combat.

Plus, I can suspend disbelief more easily for a reanimated human corpse who eats brains than for a weird, but humanoid, grey creature with highly unlikely spacefaring technology. If there are aliens out there, they're probably single-celled organisms on a slightly warm planet somewhere, not shinier versions of us with funny-shaped heads and a malevolent streak.

It's not fair of you to make these assumptions.

I once again request a feature where we can ignore all headlines submitted by a user.

Until then, I've just outright blocked the Examiner.com domain.

punkrockgirl: He's not associated with Fark, other than simply being a Farker.

Can we please put this to rest and get back to snarking about the content?

So you do you have a valid explanation as to why some guy with a 4th grade vocabulary and horribly written articles gets 3 or more green lights a day? No one is that lucky...especially with such horrible content...just admit he's friends with Drew, a mod/admin here, and move on...the constant avoidance of this issue is only making it worse...

Isn't Wampler the guy who linked to the picture of himself with a pickle sticking out of his rectum?

Well it seems that we've won since we've now had two Wampler free days. Though it does show that something was in fact going on since he's still writing examiner articles, but not submitting them to fark.
