"Monsters" is OnDemand right now, and it's pretty good. There aren't a lot of monsters in it-- between the absurdly low-budget, which was about $20k, and the attempts to ape "Jaws" (and about three other Spielberg movies)-- and the ending's pretty weak, but overall it was really solid.

They've hyped it as this year's "District 9", but even though it looks great (looks like it cost about $40-50m), the acting's solid, and the monsters themselves are kinda cool (and Cthulu-esque), it doesn't come close to being as good as "District 9".

But worth seeing.

No, guys, I am going to hold the fact that this guy directed AvP: Requiem against it until I hear more. It looks like an okay movie that got stuck with a full-saturation blue/orange filter, a shiatty romantic subplot, and an effects guy that thought the critters in The Mist were cool, but now we can make them actual aliens.

Seriously, as a woman that likes science fiction and action movies, no longer a rare breed, stop thinking that wedging in some horrific excuse for kissy-kissy is going to make me go see your piece of shiat.

Give a couple shots of half naked men (Thomas Jane as The Punisher, fark yes), blow some shiat up, and have a decent plot. Thank you, and fark you.

Are you kidding? Listen, I like Alien invasion movies as much as anyone, but the acting looks so god awful, its gonna be brutal to sit through. I can guarantee it. These directors did AVP requiem, easily one of the worst movies ever. I do not hold out even the slightest faintest hope that this will be good. Battlefield Hollywood, or whatever its called with AAron Eckhardt. That looks good.

I feel the need to address a few points here.

1 The cgi is going to suck.
2 The movie is by the guy who took the shiatfest AvP and made at least a marginally entertaining sequel that (while not saying much) was better than the first movie.
3 It's going to be a cookie-cutter sci-fi alien invasion flick.
4 All that said, it's going to rock in the worst ways possible.

My suggestions: Throttle the revenue on that site. Do not click the link. Notify admins about the link. Use Farkback and complain, and use the information from the link you just provided to back it up.

I realize this is a for-profit site, and I realize that some of the hijinks that go on are quite possibly secretly supported, such as the average PolTab shiatstorm, but that is unethical, plagiarism, and an abuse of Fark's customer/user base.

I've seen with my own eyes links that are redlit on TF, magically become his own green'd articles two hours later (often his article is a link or an embed to the article originally posted.) You know what bugs me about this movie already? The fact that the action is set in Los Angeles. Yes, I know it's where Hollywood is and all the studios are, but can't moviemakers pretend, every now and then, that it isn't actually LA and shiat happens in other cities around the globe? By watching TV and film, you'd be given the impression that anything important that happens, ever, happens in New York or LA. Imagine my surprise when I finally paid the city a visit. Hint: I haven't been back.
