I realize it would never happen, but if some of these aforementioned political types would come out and just be honest, normal, faulted people - AND BE STRAIGHT UP ABOUT IT - I'd vote the buggers right up to POTUS. I think the real problem here is that politicians (and soccer moms) are sticking their noses in other people's business again. Would I go to nude camp? No. Would I send my kid? No. Do I care if somebody does? Not at all. That's problem in American today. People caring so much about topics that don't really even concern them. Maybe it is the parent in me, but I really dont understand how walking around naked with a bunch of other naked people can be good for kids, regardless of the age. Of course I want to instill in my kids that nature is made by God, and anything God made is good. But as an adult/parent, I understand that promiscuity can be a bad thing due to disease, emotional issues, pregnancy, disease, etc. And as a parent I will want to shield my children from these risks, so I must draw the line somewhere. Since pre-teens do not understand all the complexities of sex and relationships, the easy place to draw that line is at nakedness. So I am not teaching my children that nakedness is bad, but teaching them that decency is good. Not everyone wants to be exposed to your naked body, and some naked bodies should be covered up.

I have been to Lake Como many times and have friends that have been raised in this atmosphere. These same people have more self confidence than others I know that have not been raised this way. These children don't know any different and they grow up accepting people for what is on the inside, not the out. And no, I am sure the boys don't go around sporting boners all day. Naturalist camps, at least here in the US, are not about sexuality but about sensuality. There is a difference. Lake Como is very much a family devoted camp versus the one next door to it (Paradise Lakes) which is more for the singles scene. I don't see what the problem is.

Having been to a grand total to two nudist camps, I can tell you that you have a better chance of getting laid fully clothed in a bar somewhere. The camps have all the sexual energy of a Yatzee game.

We have essentially a 2 party system. People often make the choice to be Republican or Democrat because the party BEST represents their political views, not because it is a perfect fit. The majority fall into the middle and there isn't much difference between a moderate Republican and moderate Democrat. The moderates typically pick their side based on 1 or 2 issues that they feel are the most important out of the gazillion issues the parties take sides on. Also, it is typically the edges of the parties that like to come out and shout at each other. Because you have a Republican from farther to the right talking about nudity doesn't mean that the moderate Republicans have any issue with it. As has been said many times here, the world is not black and white.

I totally get your point of view on this issue, but surely you're not suggesting that since you don't want YOUR kids to do that, that the camp should be shut down or other parents shouldn't allow their kids to attend the camp.

I doubt the kids walk around with boners. If you grow up with nudity and the human body isn't "naughty", you wouldn't necessarily be aroused by nudity alone. You think the 14-year old kids in african tribes sport woodies because the women don't wear tops?

So this isn't a public respect issue, its an Idiot Santorum style issue where a politician can't let others do what they want it private.

I think this culture needs to be taught that "decency is good" for sure, but it also needs to learn that decency has nothing to do with wearing clothes and everything to do with ethics and kindness. But kudos on being brave enough to tune into this thread as a minority voice. :)
