Here we go again. It's a little early to begin the Christmas party slaughter season, isn't it?

Some 500 students, faculty and staff attended a Saturday evening prayer service for Moore at the university, where participants were asked to describe her in one word. They chose "sunshine" and "strong" and "selfless."

You said rape twice.

This is regional news, at best. I thought the main page was for more globalized news or looking at events in a larger context. Maybe that is just when I'm drinking though. Allow me to further test that thought.

Most of New Jersey is a hellhole, the metro area close to NYC is particularly bad, and the East Orange/Irvington/Newark area is a war zone. Throw partying college students into the teeth of it, and you get what you'd expect.

If only more students there had concealed carry permits and exercised their second amendment rights along with their twenty-first amendment rights, this could have been avoided. Only socialists hit the bottle without a sidearm.

No, you're right, Rutgers is also shiat-on-a-stick. The hill country in the extreme north and west is actually kind of nice, just by virtue of a lot less development, traffic, and jackasses. Try a GIS for "new jersey highlands", you'd be shocked at what the toxic waste hasn't reached yet.

img1.fark.net? This article makes me img1.fark.net; not just that someone died, but that there are people in this world so ready and willing to resort to violence over something so trivial. Seriously, this doesn't scare me (or surprise me) in the least, but it saddens me deeply.

Not realizing that the problem when people get shot is NOT ENOUGH GUNS is a common mistake.
Simply comparing the low murder rate in the US compared to other western democracies should shut those idiots up, but those crazy liberals will never pull their heads out of their assholes and look around, because it interferes with what they want to believe.

Sheesh. I live literally down the street from Seton Hall's campus.

And let me take the role of devil's advocate (get it?). Newark sucks, but I have certainly been to places far, FAR worse in this country. If Newark is a war zone, that makes places like North Philly, Baltimore, and DC into the Kurtz compound in Apocalypse Now.

You have a total fark tag, but I have to ask... Is this your first time on fark? Seriously, stories make the main page about drunk driving incidents where the only larger context was how drunk the guy was and how many times he told the occifer to piss off.

You're right. I've either been indulging adult beverages too heavily or too little this evening. More testing is in progress. I just don't like it when 'home town' stories like this make the main page, but then again, I guess every where is someone's home town. Were they white kids? Oh.

Young people these days have no clue. The person collecting the cover charge should ask "if you refuse to pay the cover charge and I deny you entrance are you going to come back and shoot the place up?" If the person says "yes", let them in. If the person says "no", tell them to get the hell off of the property. Geez.

Two miles away, West Orange is a perfectly cromulent upper-middle class suburb of well-kept Victorians. Three miles away is Montclair, a multi-class ("almost-poor but not" up to "stinking rich but not filthy stinking rich) which has a nice traditional downtown. A little further east is Morris County, which is even nicer and doesn't have to pay as much of Newark's taxes.

All of these places are more densely populated than most subarbanites are used to but quite nice.

Well honk my hooter. I dun goofed.

WNBC did their report from South Orange, and never once stated that the party was in East Orange. Even though I'm wrong about the location of the crime, you've gotta admit that South Orange and East Orange are pretty much exact opposites in every possible way.

I couldn't agree more. I think this also holds true for the pricks that have 12 items in a 10 item grocery line. Also the people that use credit cards or write checks in a cash only line. How 'bout the asshats that try to jam the samsonite in the overhead cargo bin. I feel like all of these dicks have violated my right to a quick and speedy checkout and a hassle free airline flight.
