I wonder how much money the municipality in question spent on printing up new parking tickets to calm those who get parking tickets, I wonder if they had to raise their parking citation rates to cover the difference.

Y'know, Parking Enforcement, there is something you can do to relieve the stress of getting a citation: Stop issuing the damn citations!

Typical Cambridge city government. They'll probably ticket African-American Harvard professors for parking their own cars, just out of pure racism.

Well maybe if the people who broke the law in the first farking place wouldn't get so damn pissed at their own mistake, it wouldn't be necessary. I would rather them raise the price on the parking ticket and make those who commit the wrong pay, rather than tax everyone across the board.

If I don't park illegally, why should I pay for the crabby asshole who thinks he can park wherever he wants for however long he wants? Let him pay.

How are you paying the raised price if you don't recieve any citations? I don't think your logic is sound.

I don't think you properly comprehended what I wrote. "Big Man" was trying to make the point that this was a bad idea because they probably had to pass the cost of it on to those who receive the ticket. My point is that those are exactly the people who the cost should be passed onto. It would be unfair to do it any other way.

smokinbuddha: Meter maids have no souls. Karma. It will get these bastards.

So much this.

I was driving with a friend who was picking up his frail grandmother. He parked illegally so he would be close to her apartment and could help her down the stairs. The second he left a "cop" came over and said to me, "If you don't move the car this second you're getting a ticket". I explained the situation and that my friend would be down in a minute, and his response was "not my problem". And you're probably saying to yourself "sboyle1020, why didn't you just move the car for him", well it was a manual and have never driven one.

It would probably violate separation of church and state.Bible verses are inherently Christian. While Yoga has its roots in the various Indian religions, it's a pretty secular activity in our society.

So why don't they rename it "separation of Christianity and State" if they don't mean all religions, then? (I would be a lot happier if they'd remove all religious ties, personally.)

Because they also allow certain Christian symbols that have been accepted as secular, or are found to be secular in their context.

Er, that doesn't make any sense at all. Either something is secular, or it is religious. They are mutually exclusive. "Secular" means "not religious". Sounds like we have a bunch of people in charge that don't know what the hell they're doing. (I realize this is the normal case.)

Trouble is, for the meter maid she's not there to wait around a minute for someone to move their illegally parked car. If she did this all the time she wouldn't get her job done and would be fired. I really don't seee how you can blame it on her.

No, Christmas is secular and religious. Many people celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday and practice their beliefs on that day. While other people think of it as a secular holiday, and just use that time off work to spend with their family. They may even give Christmas gifts and say "Merry Christmas." That doesn't make them Christians, nor does that make their celebration inherently religious.

And look at Yoga. Some people do yoga as part of their religious practices, like Hindus and Buddhists. Other people practice it to relax or stay in shape. Yoga can be either religious or secular.

Jeez, and the images don't even show the people doing the asana's properly and then they only depict the most basic ones. Jeez, show a warrior 1, 2 or even a 3. Or how about a half-moon (please, no full moons thanks).

Is this because of Randy Moss' background? He only hit one cop and it is questionable if it was a meter maid or not.
