Ok I've been called a geek on many an occasion. But not even I would go frame to frame on this looking for symbols on video screens.

And while they were busy shoving in seventy easter eggs and 45 minutes of boring Avengers movie setup, they managed to forget how to make a good Iron Man movie.

Speaking of The Hulk, did anyone ever do a fan recut of that movie putting back in all the stuff Edward Norton wrote but ended up on the cutting room floor? I've googled it and come up with nada.

Finally saw Iron Man 2 the other night, how many times was that thing rewritten?

It felt like scenes were jammed together one after another without any connection to each other, like the screenplay was a community effort.

From what I understand, the studio demanded Favreau hamfistedly jam in all the Avengers crap. It had that distinctly Spider-Man 3 feel to it.

It was a join effort to be honest, John is just as much of a comic nerd as the best of them. So it wasn't so much as being forced, but more of a "oo yeah, we could that...and this..and that...and yeah that!" group think that got the mish mash of shiat in the movie.

It was a little to much at once, and it felt over packed. Although Rourke stole the show most of the time.

So what I saw was Wakanda (Black Panther), Atlantis (Namor the Sub Mariner), and Norway (Thor), plus data for the Hulk's appearances in the United States, and what I assumed was Iron Man's sightings in the U.S. as well.

So what are they saying we're not getting?

Is it possible the one in Europe was the last place Cap was spotted when he rode off on the Nuke? I think it was supposed to be launched from polar base, but it would make sense if they moved the base to Germany for the movie, as a nuke from there would likely be fired over the north poll.

Oh, but that wouldn't fit with the Hulk easter egg that was edited out because he was in the south poll.

unless you are taking a survey, it is North Pole and South Pole.

Poles... like strippers dance on... not polls, like measuring the voting tendencies of the populace.

Not so much, though.

I didn't think I had any real emotional investment in old Doom until I saw the FF movie, and then I got to be surprised at how disgusted I was. I really didn't expect them to make the FF themselves cool -- it would've been nice, but it's asking a lot of a Hollywood studio -- but I didn't realize how much they could screw up Doom.

As for Namor . . . Namor gives shout-outs to himself. He does not need your charity or crave your applause.

They are talking about the map of Africa on the monitor. There is a spot indicating Wakanda - home of the Black Panther, and a spot in the ocean west of Africa. They are speculating that it is Atlantis, home of the Submariner

Yeah. You'd think Victor Von Doom would be the easiest villain to translate to the screen. There's not much to do: Metal mask and armor, green robes, royal bearing, egotism and a deep voice with a Latverian accent (which I assume would be Slavic), and you're almost there.

Instead, they gave us a skinny dude who turns to metal and sounds like he was an extra on Melrose Place.

Dr. Doom was a total failure, but then, Fox has pretty much farked up every character they've gotten their hands on. Need I mention Deadpool? Storm? Colossus (how hard is it to get an actor to do a Russian accent?) and so on... I just can't WAIT to see how badly they fark up the reboots of both the FF and X-Men franchises.

It's not like there isn't a perfect example of how to do Victor Von Doom, all you need is the Latvarian accent and a proper metal mask and costume.

Namor had a bigger cameo on the movie, but most people didnt realize it ( me included) even though knowing the character.

it was just so upfront that it went over our heads.

In marvel universe the director of a certain company is Namor:

Huh, I did not that. However, the logo on the dome is clearly the same logo as the real-life enterprise software company Oracle (which probably threw a ton of money at Favreau to get a shout out)....on the other hand, what the hell is a giant peaceful garden doing in the middle of a 'business dome'? Hmm...

its somewhat perfect, they manage to get some money out of it and hint at one of the major marvel companies.

If they decide to make the rest of the Oracle Inc later on, they can have the heroes for hire working from there, and there is no way the "real" oracle is going to debate more publicity
