Ate at a WH a couple times driving 3,600 miles cross-country. Once in Asheville NC. Cook was the stereotypical hillbilly, missing teeth and everything. Ate there to save money. It was okay. Not terrible, really, but okay.

Why hash browns?

2010-09-20 10:58:15 PM
Did the police grill them before throwing them in jail?

At first the crooks thought they were the big cheese, but soon realized they were just small potatoes.

Sir, are you perhaps inferring something about the locales and clientèle of this fine American establishment?

Those guys were probably madder'n' the one legged waitress at IHOP.

Biggest redeeming factor of WH is that they're pretty cheap, open 24-7, and fairly ubiquitous in some parts of the States. And IMO, there's something about going to Awful Waffle for eggs and coffee with your friends at 6am after a night of partying that counts immeasurably in its favor.

Now, gustatorially speaking, whether or not one could say that they're a good place to eat really depends on the fortitude of his/her gastrointestinal tract.

Loucifer: Why no sappy tag? Come on!

Because you don't put sap on a waffle, you put syrup!

Silly boy.

[And before you say But maple syrup is sap...REAL suth'n fried waffle eaters put corn syrup on their waffles, which is not sap. And now you have some useless information to go to bed on]

The first meal I ever shared with my wife was at a Waffle House.

Ah, young love.

Thank you, subby.

i thought that sugary sticky brown liquid we southerners used was neither real maple nor real corn syrup. i thought it was just brown sugary liquid. and the kind in the bottle shaped like an old maid woman is artificially buttery sticky brown sugar liquid

Now THIS is ironic.

Man I really miss WH 'browns with chicken steaks. That's one of the few downsides to living in the pacific NW.

Oh, and why does WH not accept credit cards?

I have never eaten at a Waffle House.

I feel as though I'm somehow less of a US citizen because of this fact.

All I know is: scattered, smothered, covered, chunked, diced, peppered and farking stepped-on.
