Hell, right now we even have 2 Americans riding for the top teams in GP1 (basically the F1 of motorcycles) and you can hardly see a race unless you have satellite.

I have to say that I was surprised to see Laguna Seca on CBS. That's my favourite North American track, maybe in the world, though I do love Suzuka and Monaco...though Suzuka rarely counts for anything.

Anyway, Sunday was a great day for racing. F1, CART and IRL. And CART wasn't relegated to specialty cable The Speed Network.

It's looking like CART is going to survive and there's only room for one.

Frankly, I don't care about the Japanese racing in F1. I'd rather see North American teams. But that's it with the bottom-feeding...they just embarass themselves, IMO.

How can you root for them? It takes gobs of jack to win at F1 and the only people willing to spend it are Ferrari, Williams and McLaren.

Actually, F1 cars do race in circles. Just about every type of auto racing (except drag racing and that rally stuff) goes in circles. It's just a matter of whether it's a convoluted circle (road course) or a simple circle (oval).

I was at Laguna on Sunday. They are not exactly pulling in the big crowd at the track either. But I agree- it is a nice venue.

CART no longer has the "big names", IRL is still stuck w/ Tony George........That puts them both on a level playing field :)

Japanese pay drivers are the best. For those who don't know anything about them check out Taki Inoue. I believe he is the only driver to be run over by the pace car.

Oh, and the Winston name wasn't "yanked" from NASCAR, RJ Reynolds apparently can't afford to sponsor the series anymore. And with smoking becoming less and less PC everyday, it's probably better to have a less "offensive" sponsor than a tobacco or beer company. But "Nextel Cup" just sounds stupid. I hope they call it something else.

On another note: fark Schumacher and Ferrari. Go... um... Anyone Else!!!

I've found I enjoy NASCAR much more if I listen to the radio broadcast while watching it on TV. The TV commentators (Waltrip and Co.) are just too farking over the top with the hick/redneck thing. I'm from Texas and I have a southern drawl and all that, but listening to those guys talk is farking annoying.

Oh, and while we're on the subject: F1 > NASCAR. All you have to do is ask Jeff Gordon. He got to drive a few laps in Montoya's F1 car at Indy last week; the look on his face after he gets out of the F1 car says it all. Now if he could only get a F1 drive, or any American for that matter.

Whether Eddie wins this case or not, the sport would benefit more from Vodafone sponsoring Jordan F1. Ferrari has no shortage of sponsors whereas Jordan F1 is barely surviving. There is talk of a "Fighting Fund" and a Mercedes engine deal for Jordan in 2004 so they may still be around for a bit. Frankly Honda pulled a dumb move when they chose to back BARf over Jordan.

Having said that...
