Mandi Rust says her husband was never violent with the children but he has been with her.

She says she was shocked when a reporter showed her her husband's lengthy criminal record which includes charges of domestic violence, drugs, theft, resisting arrest, harassment and forgery spread over the past 11 years.

She left the kids with a babysitter; the babysitter gave them to the dad. Whether she thought to tell the babysitter "hey, I'm leaving him so don't give him the kids" is debatable.

That's why you always do a background check before you get serious with someone. Anyone who is offended by having their background checked by a potential mate is guilty as hell of something and you should dump them immediately. Also, check their credit.
