Also balloons. I was told there'd be balloons.

Vic has one upped balloons. You might find them handy for what you have planned.

Oh hrm. I was gonna have some softball guys over, but no one has really responded. Mayhaps I shall head into the city instead. Assuming I finish painting the basement.

being a homeowner is a pain in the ass.

Can it really be impromptu if we have organized planning?

It got more originally more impromptu when me and vic thought it up? Then it attained a life of it's own.

Punch and pie?

We've picked up some chatter indicating some elements may attempt to spike the punch.

How do you bastards always know to schedule a Fark party near me when I've got a friend's birthday to celebrate? Never fails.

// i swear someday i'll go to another one
// i think i've missed every one since snakes on a plane

Damn. First park party where I live and I can't go. I hope everyone has a great time.

Let's drunkenly plan the 10/30 Fark party at this one.

i'm a maybe... it's within stumbling distance of the red line.

Just asking, would you consider cobbling some kind of carpooling thingie for visiting Farkers? Especially visiting Canucks who booked the whole trip to Dulles and didn't check the shuttle prices ahead of time?

For the $300 it'd cost us to get to our hotel from the airport and back, I'd rather buy rounds at the Fark party... At least merriment will ensue.

somebody got ripped off by the shuttle... where is your hotel?

shiat, something's happening Oct. 30? I think I have a wedding that day...

Crowne Plaza Hamilton - K and 14th Street.

We got a very sweet deal with the flights, and it seemed really close to the rally site. Plus, we can get some sightseeing done.

On October 30th DC will be a pretty busy place. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are holding a march at the National Mall called "Rally to Restore Sanity/ March to Keep Fear Alive".

hmmm Maybe

$300 for an airport shuttle? Where is your hotel, West Virginia?

Dude. Really?

How any people do you have?

You could Priceline a car for much less.

Hell, it runs me ~$70 each way on a cab when I go to Dulles and back.

2010-09-17 06:44:08 PM
Dude, take the bus to Rosslyn form Dulles, or the Washington Flyer coach bus to West Falls Church. Then hop on the Orange line. shiat even a cab is only $50-60.

Bartenders at 14K are great and they have a decent happy hour for a hotel.

The quote I got was $71, and there are 2 of us, and it looked like that was one-way.

Christ, take a cab. Or better yet, give me $30 bucks and I'll drive out to Dulles and pick you up myself.

It's going to be half that to take a cab, and a fark load faster.

I wish I had more notice on the party, got plans in the opposite direction. (Alcohol will be involved so I'll get by.) Also, I pretty much live across the street from Dulles so we might have able to work something out. It would fun to meet a fellow 'shopper in person too, assuming Fark allows that.

Honey, I would rather pay a nice Farker to ferry us - I have a thing against gouging. Plus, we'll get to meet new friends! We'd rather hang out with locals, they know the best places around.

Not tomorrow's party, the 10/30 rally. We're flying in on 10/29. It's a completely insane spur of the moment thing we decided to do. Fark if I know how we'll manage to bring our signs on the plane!

And the feeling is mutual, I'd love to talk Photoshop as long as we stay away from the lens flare v. Gaussian blue debate. I lost too many friends because of that one.

Gotta go, but EIP.

Enjoy your party!

So close but so far away! Anyone want to carpool from the southern Maryland boondocks?

I've never been to one of these things.. What happens? Is there an orgy after?

2010-09-17 07:56:38 PM
Is anyone showing up to this thing drunk? I'm not planning on it but I have two hours to kill between job and party. I should probably go home and pray. And put deodorant on.

I will be at my birthday party from 3-7, then head over to Buffalo Billiards, so I will most likely be plastered.

2010-09-17 08:17:44 PM
I haven't been to a Fark party yet and I really should go. I am just too damn comfortable in my sweats watching TV. I wish that I would have known sooner than the last 5 mins.

Having met you, I know for a fact that you are not a child and thus likely not having a birthday party at Chuckie Cheese. What grown man has a birthday party from 3 - 7 on a Saturday? You must be doing something that requires those specific times. Can't be paintball because I can't imagine they allow imbibing. 'Fess up.

I want to go, I wish I could go, I should go, but I can't go.

I know I won't be missed and I'm sure that you could not care less as to why I won't be there, but I'm going to tell you anyway... That's right. The RUSH concert.

I make no promises as to the quality of my person or mental state when I show up.

Theres a bar in DC that has 555 beers. It is rather popular, so we tend to go during the afternoon when it is much less crowded. Also, college football.

I will miss you Randy. Say hi to my boyfriend, he's going to the Rush concert as well. He's the skinny guy with dark hair, I'm sure he'll stand out.

I'm just going to post one more comment about me being butthurt for not being invited to Addison's coming out party. There.

Ah, specialty beer and college ball. Two things that would never occur to me.

And I am hoping to muster up the ambition to make it out tomorrow night but this has been a brutal week at work and I may just not have it in me to even leave the house.

The Brickskeller (new window) = pure win. Its over 1000 beers btw. And only a few blocks from Dupont and Buffalo Billiards.

/doesn't like Buffalo Billiards
//spent my 21st there drinking with one good friend and all her coworkers who were obnoxious hipsters...all because my birthday was the night before the first day of finals.
///I re-celebrated it three weeks later in Vegas.
////I feel old now...

The Brickskeller is, in fact == pure fail. It's true they have a piece of paper with 1000 beers on it, but the odds of them having the one you choose are 20-30% at best. And given the speed of the service there that miss is easily going to leave you without beer for an hour.

Churchkey is better in every way possible.
