Reason #4,924,699 why progressives should never give money to the DNC, the DCCC, or the DSCC, only to individual candidates. They waste the money on lousy crap like this. I'll bet some consulting firm made a quarter million dollars on that crap.

I'm kind of surprised the Republicans don't make more hay out of stuff like this. It fits right in with their critique of the party.

It probably has something to do with both parties being bad. So, you know.

They saved or created a job for one graphic designer.
And made themselves a target.

How long before Beck finds hidden Olygarhic/Socialist/Fascist/Communist/SocialJustice symbols hidden in the logo?

"The other guys are bad at being politicians" isn't exactly populist.

A big, giant "D" with a circle around it reminds me of a bad mark....

The linked Atlantic blog post is pretty amusing.

For those that would rather not click on a Hot Air link: Democratic Party Steals Logo From the Pizza Place Where I Used to Work (new window)

Was this designed by the same guy who did the new itunes icon?
Anyway, it's still not as craptacular as the RNC website when it was first launched.

2010-09-15 07:25:03 PM
Geez that's weak. It's nice to see that Dems and Pubs can agree on something though.

This needs to be a Photoshop contest.

2010-09-15 07:25:19 PM
Huh. It's a D. In a circle! I'm so voting Democrat 4evs now

I thought it stood for "O'Donnel".

I like it, although it does make me think of the D Train of the MTA.

It's ok. But they should do stuff like this in the off-season.

It looks ripe for goatseing.

Does this mean no more donkey?

I don't think it's a bad logo.

2010-09-15 08:19:53 PM
Democrats, sadly, are unwilling to own the narrative.

Which means adopting the word "Obamacare" as your own, for example -- instead of reacting to republican characterizations of it.

It's a straightforward logo. It may not brand, however, because Democrats are like herding cats.

The lock step authoritarian mindset of the right wing is an asset for thing like this.

2010-09-15 08:24:18 PM
Needs a little improvement (new window).

2010-09-15 08:24:22 PM
"change that matters"

I hope they got that for free, but I'm sure they way, way over spent.

A "D" in a circle? Really? I thought Democrats were educated & creative. They could've posted a photoshop contest on the main page & done better.

2010-09-15 08:40:39 PM
How did they ever come up with that idea?

It's farking genius!

still better then "What Up?"

That's what they were "teasing" yesterday?

Wow. Thanks.

DarnoKonrad: I don't think it's a bad logo.

Jesus, Paul. Were that an "R" in there, and this was GOP rollout, you would spend 2 paragraphs explaining just how perfect it is in ilustrating how simple-minded, uncreative, stupid, ugly, luddite, and BORING the GOP are.

But.....it says D, you say "golly, I think it's purty".

2010-09-15 09:58:34 PM
HAHAHA

Well, that was not what I was expecting. A new logo? You guys aren't selling soap, or corn flakes, you Dipshiats.

Talk about 'the boy who cried wolf'

And yet, on the plus side:

PHOTOSHOPS!!!

That's a really disappointing logo.

It reminds me of the time the Weather Channel was all "GUYS WE'VE GOT AN AWESOME NEW LOGO, AND WE'RE GOING FROM THIS:"

tima.homeip.net

"TO THIS:"

g-ecx.images-amazon.com

I don't think I need to explain my feelings on that one.

Actually, a channel called RightNetwork has just launched, and its logo is... a stylized 'R' in a circle.

Both logos are good design, because they're made for non-creative people, who are marketing to (largely) non-creative people, and they manage not to be gaudy, gawky, ridiculous, or simply ugly- as such they're a major improvement over most political design.

I.e., they're all "dumb it down so the idiots will follow us more better"

For some reason, this reminds of that scene in Idiocracy when they showed how Fuddruckers turned into Buttfarkers (new window).

I weep for America.

Funny how the only people who noticed or even care about this "Bombshell announcement" are teabaggers. Well...since foxnews.com isn't doing it for you anymore...here is a site that you can drool over.
