So ten miles of river have been wiped out because some badly-run cow farm dumped sewage, and the chances are that they'll get a slap on the wrist. farking tragic.

Oh, sorry, the headline has a spelling mistake - hilarious.

"Yurdin says that he is aware that there were similar illegal discharges into the creek in 2003 and 2004 that were never positively connected to a source. The agency is now actively reinvestigating if the source."

Oops, looks like they accidentally the article.

Now, if you could get that dairy to kill all those Asian carp, that would be incredibly awesome!

Maybe they should pour a bunch of manure into the Illinois River and the Cal-Sag Channel, that would solve the Asian Carp problem. It may even make the Cal-Sag Channel smell better.

This was exactly my thought.

Cows can be pretty destructive on the environment. Where I grew up there was a large creek about a mile from my house and my friends and I would go there to fish for bass and bluegill. Super clear water, you could see the bluegill nests on the creek bottom. Then the guy who owned the land started grazing cattle, and the creek literally turned to shiat. It was sad. Almost makes me not want to eat beef. Almost. My stomach is not an idealist.

Maybe the government would down play this if the dairy can get BP to take them in as a subsidiary company under PB's Corporate wings.
That would make this all okay, right.....
They can claim it was good because helped stop a possible snakehead breeding ground or maybe destroyed some blue green algae.....

How else do you expect Illinois to fight Asian Carp.

Cow poo, and the chemicals in that poo, find their way in to bodies of water. They poison the water, affect turbidity, and/or cause dangerous algal blooms. We cut down forests for more pasture land, encouraging desertification.

Beef has about a 16:1 ratio of pounds of feed required to produce one pound of product.

/not a tree-hugger
//this is all incidental knowledge
///cows are delicious

I agree with getting them on the Asian Carp issue.

And hell, do journalists even bother to edit anymore?
