Spanky_McFarksalot: Well, how else are you suppose to get a cabinet position?

The average unpaid tax bill is $12,787 among the Senate's delinquent taxpayers and $15,498 among those working in the House.

So, nothing to do with the cabinet, nothing to do with "hope and change"... nice trolling there, spanky.

Here's the thing, I'm a Republican. My issue is twats like you that can't find actual issues to gripe about and instead either focus on stupid or outdated, unconnected shiat. There's plenty of stuff to worry about, but blaming Obama for everything wrong in Washington isn't useful. The important things are getting lost in the noise.

When cheating on taxes it's best to be subtle..

For instance if you make 250k a year you can pretty safely say you "donated" around 20k that year and it wont send up red flags. You can also make up BS alimony (15k). Then I go even further and write a check that will bounce so I don't get fined initially.. Instead they tell me my check bounced (of course if farking did i planned it that way) then they ignore you for a few months. I just JUST sent my tax check in last week as I've been riding the interest on it for almost 5 months. HAHA fark you Uncle Scam.

Well yeah cause they ask for the SSN. Just make sure to transpose two digits when entering it on the form. If they ask you just say "ohhh opps I meant I gave her a 1500 dollar gift.. Jeeze these taxes are confusing."

They wont ask though. Audits only happen to people that go overboard like making 250k and then saying they donate 75k of it. Do that and you're guaranteed an audit.

The IRS information does not identify delinquent taxpayers by name, party affiliation or job title and does not indicate whether members of Congress are among the scofflaws. It shows that 638 employees, or about 4 percent, of the 18,000 Hill workers owe money.

so it could be any level of employee from either party and branch of government on capitol hill? f*ck you fartbongo, pay your taxes.

Is there a single democrat anywhere that actually pays their taxes? Are ALL of them angling for a spot in Obama's cabinet?

Why Would I Read the Article: Is there a single democrat anywhere that actually pays their taxes? Are ALL of them angling for a spot in Obama's cabinet?

Why did subtard use the president's campaign slogan in an article about back taxes owed by congressional employees?

Is the submitter a moron? A troll? Are the admins that green this kind of garbage headline just dumber than a sack of marmalade?

Ohoo yes, because it is the President's campain slogan

2010-09-09 07:28:19 PM
So, you got some unconfirmed information* from the Washington Post that some government officials MIGHT owe some taxes. So instead of chasing after known scofflaws - like all the teabaggers - you want to chase after unsubstatiated claims in order to attempt to make the president (that wants to try to bring the economy back where it belongs) bad.

* show where those indicated taxpayers have been audited and have been proven that they owe money

Did you bother to RTFA?

And 41 employees at the Executive Office of the President owed $831,000 altogether

Along with the Capitol Hill totals, it shows that three employees at the Office of Government Ethics owed a combined $75,000. And 41 employees at the Executive Office of the President owed $831,000 altogether - about the same amount as during the last year of George W. Bush's administration.

41 out of 638 and it was probably the same 41 guys who have been there for 15 years.

Wrong. There are a number of taxpayers who are audited randomly. And yes, contrary to the IRS's public position, there are red flags. You don't have an understanding of the way the system works. Taxpayers are given a risk rating. A low risk rating means it's less likely that you'll be audited, but it's not a guarantee that you won't by any means. No one is ever untouchable.

Also, a lot of the information you provided is wrong. If you claim to have donated $20k (a major red flag, despite your income) and you don't have records of the donation (cancelled check, for example), they will certainly disallow your deduction and likely charge you with fraud. If you claim you made alimony payments and you didn't, not only will they disallow it, but you will very likely be prosecuted for fraud. The IRS will almost surely prevail and you'll have a nice felony record attached to your name for life.

When I was an auditor, we used to have people like you who "played dumb" (as per your example, the "taxes are confusing" line was a classic that I've heard hundreds of times before). Those were the people that my colleagues and I would take the most delight in slamming. People who think that line will actually work must be brain damaged. When it comes to taxes, you will never be as clever and crafty as an auditor. We used to get hundreds of hours of training every year to help us to spot cheaters. Unsophisticated cheaters can usually get away with it for a while, but when they get caught, they get slammed. If evidence of fraud is found, auditors can demand records from up to 6 years prior. Without evidence of fraud, auditors can only go back 3 years.

I testified in court in 52 cases. The defendants prevailed in only 3 of those cases. In the other 49 cases, the defendants were almost always given felony convictions. 7 of those convictions came with prison sentences.

I've seen people lose everything in tax cases: their jobs, their homes, their spouses, their assets, and their entire lives. Anyone who thinks that they can game the system without getting caught may be right. But the punishment for blatant fraud is usually severe enough to dissuade all but the most stupid and/or the most greedy from ever seriously considering it.

Ahh, but if you did RTFA, you would have seen the rest of what I quoted:
