(Seattle Times) Dumbass Ever get that feeling that you left the keys in your police cruiser? Or that you left that burglar unattended in the back seat? At least you remembered to close the rear seat divider... right?   (seattletimes.nwsource.com) divider line 23

Man, SPD is on top of it these days. Surprised they didn't shoot him and sprinkle some crack on him.

Did he check to make sure he put pants on that day?

And make sure you leave the handcuff keys on the dashboard.

You have to leave the car on to power all the electronics but that doesn't explain how the suspect was able to get through the divider. They really should have a way to keep the car running but not allow the car to be put into drive without a separate key or something.

Damn you, Anton Chigurh!

DAMN YOU!

Hey Seattle, you starting to second guess not hiring our police chief yet?

Thanks for leaving her here, it's been nice using you guys as the butt of jokes for a bit.

The man, 33, was found still handcuffed and arrested about four hours later near his home, police said.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't arrested when they found him. Perhaps shortly after.

I'm surprised he fled into that neighborhood.

SPD is retarded. I was going out drinking in Capitol Hill 2 weekends ago, and as I walked by the 12th Ave Police Station, I passed an unattended squad car with the keys in the ignition and the engine running. No officers in sight. It was a good thing for myself and for the officer assigned that car that I was walking TO the bars, not back from them.

Not nearly as much potential for hilarity.

He was probably out picking up a bag of Dick's.

We have switches in all of our police cars that allow you to shut the ignition off and take the keys, but the engine remains running. If you put your foot on the brake pedal, which is necessary to put the car in gear, the engine shuts off.

I guess Seattle doesn't have those, huh? At least they caught him again. It'll probably cost the cop an unpaid day off, but he'll never do something stupid like that again.

my favorite dick's related quote from an girlfriend's friend while walking by dick's, "the smell of dicks makes me nausea."

Dukes-of-Hazzard style incompetence is nothing new for the Seattle police. It doesn't seem to depend on the presence or absence of any particular chief.

My favorite SPD img1.fark.net story is still the one from a couple of years ago, when two cops managed to start a gunfight with each other. I'm sure they'll top it eventually, though.

MONSTERTRUCK: It's surprising he's alive with Seattle's new brand of justice underway.

New? Man this has been going on out here for many years. And it's not just Seattle. If you look even vaguely brown in anywhere in the peuget sound region, never leave video survaillence and well lit areas. They'll smoke you while your hands are clearly at 10-2 and there will not be an investigation. Sure, they probably will still shoot you, and you'll probably still die, but at least there'll be a record of the injustice. Not that anything will be done about it.

Sort of, I'm pink so everyone assumes I can't dance or play basketball. (They're right, but it's still rude to presume) But it does carry certain advantages such as when dealing with law enforcement, getting credit, so it's not all bad.
