That'll come with the story that the charges have been dropped.

According to investigators and legal documents, discussion of killing Afghan civilians began after the arrival of Staff Sergeant Calvin Gibbs at forward operating base Ramrod last November.

But only because they did so in my bunk.

Meh, they just took the lawbringer perk. That means their actions were completely justified, because if those Afghans weren't evil they wouldn't have dropped fingers.

Guy on the left is culpable. I can tell by just looking at him.

That said, we're training 19y.o.s to kill people. Isn't the skull still solidifying at this age? That can't be good for development. Not surprised that some are processing it as sport, especially since many are poor white trash.

For farks sake guys, if any of this is true.. I pray for you.

Bet you won't see this on Fox News, cause according to them every poor, uneducated young man that puts on a costume, and is given a gun with a license to kill is a gentlemen and a hero.

Surprise no one talks about the rate at which these monsters come back home to become extremely violent criminals.

There are few words with more than 3 syllables. I'm not sure how combat training would have made it any easier for me to understand.

Really, a few.
For them all to end up in the same command, under a CO that would encourage this shiat...not very likely.
As much as the military trains...(they do their job well) they do work to weed out the psychos.

Was there anything else I needed to address there? Because other than this sweepingly awkward statement about how "we mustn't judge unless we've worn the uniform," your argument was pretty simplistic.

Notabunny: funmonger: pippi longstocking: Surprise no one talks about the rate at which these monsters come back home to become extremely violent criminals.

What rate?

3.14:1 (the dreaded pi rate)

Ten of the brigade's members committed or attempted to commit homicides after their return from Iraq, a rate said to be 114 times the murder rate in Colorado Springs, adjacent to the unit's base.

Well at least in Colorado the magic number is 114 according to this link (new window)

So yeah, I bet you're paying for their "service" to the country.

BesiktasBoy83: unless you have seen war then you cannot understand this story.

Unless you've seen war, you don't understand how sad this story is (if true).
If it got this out of hand, all kinds of crazy shiat was happening. I wouldn't blame the boys' as much as a CO that was batshiat insane.
War may be Hell, but we stand tall above the rest. Really. No shiat. The moment we behave like a depraved enemy or worse, we've lost the war. When we start making excuses for behavior like this (if true) then we have lost all moral imperative in fighting this war.
And for me, my friends, and allies, that's why we are (were) there.
War is hell... but there should always be a reason for war. It's our collective belief in politics and morality that justifies the use of force. Once that is lost, so is everything else.

So it takes a uniform to be able to tell if killing innocent civilians and collecting fingers is wrong? Is there some condition that makes that ok?

/I wonder if they were alive or dead when the uniforms took the fingers...

Not sure who this was directed at. Unlikely that a group of psychos would end up in the same squad, but if the Sgt was a manipulative psycho then impressionable young men could be persuaded to follow.
This happens to entire populations of countries.
