(Some Guy) Interesting Chicago suburb considering a dress code for cabbies, includes stipulation that sandles can only be worn with socks. Seniors welcome more job opportunities, trips through farmers markets   (triblocal.com) divider line 23

What in the hell is a "sandle?" And why does it need a sock?

2010-09-08 11:42:32 PM
Well what the hell are the clothing restrictions other then having to wear socks with sandals *shudders*? What they intentionally left out was the "religious" garb they are referring to. Is this a vehicle for hire HOA?

Sandles? Really?

I fully support all of those dress code reguirements, smoking and cleanliness requirements.
I've gotten into way to many disgusting smelly cabs with drivers that were dressed in clothes that I wouldn't consider 'around the house chore and laundry day' clothes. ÖK, so you're driving a cab. Its not a glamour job. But how hard is it to look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself "Do I look decent enough today that when somebody sees me,they won't automatically think I must be a scumy cab driver"?

Anyone who's experienced Oak Park would not be surprised by this in the least. Generally speaking, the people there are just awful.

If you wear a sandle, you should have to wear socks over them.

Forcing people to wear socks with sandals, however, is just cruel.

People in Oak Park need to be cordoned off from the rest of the population and sterilized.

/along with the people in Portage Park. Freaking Pollacks.

I don't see anything wrong with these rules. They have stricter rules than this for the cab drivers in Toronto.

Sandles. Wow, I'd be embarrassed if I was subby, kind of like driving by the Nut Bush in Oak Park 100 times before I figured out what kind of bar it was.

/no fire exits
//enjoy your death, fabulous men

I can't think of any of profession where government dictates the dress code to private businesses, excepting of course situations where certain things must be worn/not worn for safety reasons

How about a bathing requirement?

this is exactly why i pay the extra $5 for a limo to the airport instead of a cab. why should i pay to ride in a shiatbox rattletrap that stinks of curry farts, only to have to give directions to where im going to the nitwit who is supposed to be a professional driver? nothing says "i cant farking drive" quite like a cab license.

I saw a cabbie mowing grass across the street from my house. Along with the black socks and sandles, he was attired in chest high plaid shorts and a tucked-in T-shirt.
