pudding7: I was expecting some scary chart to show 60% or something.

24.1% That's it? Wow, that's awesome. The heavyweights on the left should be shouting this from the rooftops.

came here for some of these type of comments, leaving satisfied.

compared to almost everywhere else in the civilized world, our taxes are really really low

I did answer you. Rich people benefit much more than any other group from taxes paid.

Maybe it'd be less confusing if they stopped calling it "progressive" taxation and started calling it "American" taxation?

Hayes: Sabyen91:She is a worthless drain on the US. People pay taxes so her daddy can make more money for that worthless whore.

Tax money goes to the Hiltons? What?

muck4doo: Sabyen91: muck4doo: If she is producing money for the club and the workers there, then yes. That is producing. You may not like it, but if people are paying for it, then it is producing.

Toxic derivatives are producing in your scenario, eh?

People who make money for those they service are producing, no matter how much you hate them or what they stand for.

Ok, so now all rich people are producers no matter what they do?

It really says something when people think that such a low number represents "tyranny" or "coercion" or whatever stupid word-of-the-day they're glomming onto these days...

whidbey: muck4doo: whidbey: muck4doo: You did make the statement that the poor are being kicked. How?

Just look at your own comments.

You put people into two disingenuous groups: "Producers" and "Non-Producers."

Who died and made you God?

Don't be stupid.

Don't make such polarized generalizations about people.

I guess in your world there is no such thing as a rich deadbeat slacking on the couch, the fact that they have money is their ticket to privilege.

What evidence do you have that she is a deadbeat? Or is that more wishful thinking on your part?

Compared to what she consumes? Nah. Deadbeat. Takes up space/air/drugs.

As if we need to hear any more uncalled defenses for the super-rich.

That's why you don't get any where. With you it's class warfare and a call to emotion. Looks like you got a God complex as well. :p

What exactly am I supposed to be scared of? If anything, the article shows just how little Americans pay into the system, which would also explain why it's falling to pieces around their ears.

I didn't say that. You gave an example of Paris Hilton. I stated that she makes money for the clubs that pay her to attend as well as the workers there. She draws them money. She is compensated for it. Or do you think she goes to those clubs just for free?

Making money does not equal producing. Well...maybe it is. You are the one that decided it was producer vs. non-producer (with workers being non-producers).

Hint:They don't actually believe the taxes are "tyranny" (all taxes are coercion).
They're mad about something alright and maybe they do believe they're under tyranny, but they're so passive aggressive about it that it's hard to tell from what they really think they're suffering tyranny from.
If they would just be honest and not make up bullshiat or say irrational things we could get somewhere.
You know why people are calling you racist,Tea Partiers? Because you haven't said anything logical yet, but you are in a bluster about something.
Tell us what you're really feeling "tyranny" from, tell us why you're really angry. Hint: it must be reality based.
So socialist, muslim, uber-liberal, taxes are right out.
Bonus points if you actually own up to just being partisan or desiring fascism/theocracy. Double bonus points if you give good reasons other than those two.

That seems low to me. I pay 24% just in payroll taxes (of course I don't have a deduction for a kid, either). If I added up everything, I'm quite sure it would be closer to 30%

Sabyen91: So, you are a big fan of single payer?

more like "no-payer". but even single-payer would make more sense than what we have now. as is, with only 20% of the population milking the system, some of them really milk it. if we had single-payer, at least we would be rationing it. but what really makes the most sense is rationing it based on what people are willing to pay for it. there's a reason the kids in the ghetto have nicer clothes than you, but can't communicate as effectively. their parents have devoted resources towards clothes, but not education. and it's great that you feel bad for them not having access to maps and all, but you can't just take it from paris hilton and jerry bruckheimer, because that's not how the wealth got created in the first place.

um, you pay for it in the phenomenally high cost of health insurance. which your employer probably covers, due to its tax exempt status. which nonetheless reduces your compensation from the employer.

That's because nobody's going to take the bogus framing seriously. If you wanna talk about how much you should pay for schools, police, infrastructure, blah-blah-blah -- you know, things that you actually make use of and benefit from? Then maybe it'd be worth somebody's time.

Speaking of polarizing generalizations and derp.

And then you'll find out that nobody actually thinks you should be taxed in excess of what you actually derive from said services, same as everybody else.

A producer is one who makes money for either his/herself or their employer and gets compensated for it. They may be in service which is where this country is sadly going, or they may actually produce real goods, which is where we are falling away. Producers make income.
