Of course it pops on the vine. What do you think Native Americans ate at movie theaters before they discovered fire?

I think you could have saved yourself sometime and simply made the headline "Farmer" and the tag "Dumbass"

At least the farmer knew better than to call an isolated result of weather fluctuations "global warming."

This is nothing new. When I was a kid, I was cultivating the tobacco patch on GrandDad's farm with a mule one hot, sweltering day. It got so hot that the entire popcorn patch next to where we were working popped. It looked like a blizzard. The mule thought it was and stood there and froze to death. True story!!!

Everything is caused by global warming.

Global warming is caused by global warming.

Sadly, as seen in this photo snapped by farmer Patrick Preston, the hot and dry conditions have actually triggered what agriculture experts call "popped kernel." As described in a recent issue of Kentucky Pest News, the term refers to when "the seedcoat on the crown of the kernel breaks open, giving it the appearance of a partially popped popcorn kernel."

And some now for some conspiracy theorists bait

Please note the article does not address the possibility that proximity to a cell phone caused the premature popping.

It's caused by microwaves, microwave radiation I tell ya. The sky's full of it. People leave the microwave open by mistake in China and corn gets popped in Kentucky. Coincidence?

I read that as "Farmer claims global warming is causing his corn to poop on the stalk".

The kernels did not shoot out several feet like popcorn but in this photo you can see the kernels partially popped open.

Three reasons for this....
1) the corn plant is growing irregularly and is stressed
2) there has not been enough rain
3) the weather has been very hot

schattenteufel: /required in every Global Warming thread.

I happen to be a sustainability advocate, but the logic in that cartoon is wrong. We should invest in our future because it is necessary, not because creating a bunch of expensive make-work is an end in and of itself. If we had unlimited oil and CO2 emissions were not a concern, then it would be illogical for the world to spend trillions of dollars on alternative energy to create "green jobs." That makes as much sense as paying people to dig ditches and then fill them in. The reason we should invest in alternative energy is because oil is not unlimited and CO2 is a concern.
