joni mnemonic: only cause of mati. seriously, that guy was the worst.

What kind of lame power is heart?

The weirdest thing about Captain Planet was that those kids even needed the titular character. Hell, most episodes should have been about 5 minutes long with the American kid setting fire to the bad guy, the Asian girl putting the fire out, the African burying the remains and the Russian giving them a cool breeze to relax in (fark the heart kid, wtf kind of power is heart?).

Instead they fumbled the fark around until they had to call that mullet wearing dipshiat Captian Planet. Gaia should have just created him and left the kids alone.

But he got the monkey sidekick!

Had a way too in-depth drunken discussion about this show at a party not long ago.

I always assumed the unedited version had him ripping the hearts out of people or choking their aortas Darth Vader style.

....but this is why I likely had counseling sessions when a kid

The only thing I never could quite understand about Captain Planet was that he had all this power yet all you had to do was throw garbage at him and he became powerless.

I still like how Cpatain Planet was more american then the fire kid...

I mean, he had an american accent and a mullet...

When I was in college, four friends and I assumed the nicknames of the Planeteers and we named our bong Captain Planet. We were pretty cool. I was water.

Pernicus: We were pretty cool. I was water.

So, did you fill up the bong?
Did fire light it?

There was one episode where Mati was really powerful...

They were shrunk down and inside the body of one of the planeteers. However, there were a bunch of evil bacteria in the body too. Mati was able to direct the white blood cells to attack it. He basically had his own private army while inside the body.

/Mati is also a good shot with a SuperScope 6.

Why was Gaia, the spirit of the earth, so hot?

Did the producers make Gaia hot to encourage young men to want to fark the Earth?

Or, was she hot so that we would want to save the earth, so that we could eventually fark it?

It's the same reasoning behind the Politics tab trolls who seem to think that they'll eventually get to f*ck Sarah Palin if they keep defending her against the FarkLib Bigotstm.

I'm not the type to throw around the words "bleeding heart," but Captain Planet was one of the most bleeding-heart, asinine obscene television shows ever to be made. It's a far bigger plight on culture than shows like Jersey Shore ever can hope to be. At least the people behind Jersey Shore don't pretend that they are cynical, evil dipshiats.

GI Joe and Transformers didn't have some self-important douche with deep pockets funding their production, with no concern of profit or loss.

Not that they were any better shows mind you. GI Joe and their complete inability to shoot anyone pissed me off when I first saw it. And I was six.

I remember in high school my friends and I were talking about this show. The one Latin guy in our group said only one thing on this topic: Why the hell did they have to give the pussiest power to the Mexican?!

One of the things I found most annoying was the fake idea of what Toxic Waste is. Toxic waste is not the Ooze from TMNT. It's just stuff that's soaked up a lot of radioactive waste. Know what most toxic waste looks like? Steel. Pieces of metal.

Yes, but it had the greatest episode ever: Where Shipwreck tells a story about a giant guarding a hamburger mine, and it comes true. "The MacGuffin Device."

Can't view the page at work, but have to join in the discussion of Mati. I always used to think his power was terrible, but doesn't it also amount to mind control if used right? I seem to recall one episode where it's like, "What if Wheeler was never a Planeteer" and he sees where everyone else would be. So Mati is begging for money and some dude pushes him aside and laughs, so he's all like, "Oh yeah? Heart!" And then the guy gives him money!

/Pretty soon the acid rain in spain will be mainly polluting the plain.

Always fun to see who would go the farthest. I think Different Strokes is still out in front with the bicycle shop episode.

And tonight, on a very special Webster, Webster finds out his parents were serial killers and were executed by the state.

Dear lord that brings some memories back. I love the half ass wanna be god father music in between break cuts.

I swear these shows introduced me to the drugs I knew I wanted to take, not actually prevent me from trying them. "Oooo uppers, don't want those.. weed mellow... hell yeah give me some!"

Watching that whole episode, they make a couple appearances. I noticed them at the lunch table in a later scene. I was trying to find other characters, but didn't really see anyone else.

I noticed some other things, like the fact that Linka didn't have any boobs unless you looked at her from the side. While her outfit had showed off her abs like woah, the top half amounted to a very thick black rubber band across her chest. There wasn't even a suggestion of curves. No depth, no nothing.

Also in that same episode, did Captain Planet really use water to put out a chemical fire? Isn't that the worst possible thing to do in that situation?
