What a worthless article. I was expecting 137 pictures to show the gradual change from semi dried out over preserved food to totally dried out over preserved food. 3 pictures is just lazy.

2010-09-07 07:46:54 PM
so if it looks the same as day 1 and you already paid for it anyhow

do you eat or not?

TAOCHOW: do you eat or not?

I always do.

Old news. There used to be a whole website devoted to how to dry out burgers expressly so that you could show them to people and talk about how old they are and still look basically the same.

I'm guessing that if you bought these items in the US and then set them on a shelf in the philipines instead of in a relatively dry area, the pictures would look very different.

2010-09-07 07:54:01 PM
doh
I meant-

do you eat IT or not

The beef patties McDonald's uses are made in a plant here in Oklahoma. They use real beef, nothing else. I had a piece of pizza in my shop fridge for 3 years and it looked as good as new when I finally threw it out.

They treat it with ammonia.

Wat?

but I am pretty sure your stomach can't break that down any better than the mold and microbes in the air.

I'm not a doctor but I don't think that is true.

Christ, now I'm hungry for slyders. Maybe a Whopper too.

/Fark you, subby.

Wasn't there one about 5 years old that looked the same, even featured in a glass case?

2010-09-07 08:47:27 PM
No mold on the bread?

2010-09-07 09:16:18 PM
old news

it was dried out

if left normally it moulds and rots like anything else

I'm gonna take a picture of a gummi bear over the same period.

Or maybe a lifesavers candy. Or maybe peanuts. Or maybe...an egg! Or...insert any of many non-fast-foods that we eat on a regular basis that don't degrade over time here.

I mean, I get it's bread and meat and you *expect* it to get moldy and old, but come on. So what if it doesn't? That doesn't mean it's some horrible poison.

Why did the bun move towards the fries?

One day I was overwhelmed by this death stench in my car only to find a quarter-pounder with cheese that somehow ended up under my car seat. I am fairly certain that this is not the case under all conditions.

Fair enough. But what does it mean?

Yes, the author of the article is an idiot. That being said, McDonald's is terrible and your GI tract never did anything to deserve it.

Umm, about the egg on your list of "shelf-stable" items. Just go ahead and give that a whirl.

I'll be over here with the mega-sized bottle of febreze.

I don't see how anti-rotting meat is considered sick. Personally seeing a pile of mold-covered maggot infested meat is sick as hell.

I applaud McDonalds for inventing their rot free meat-like substance.

2010-09-07 09:23:29 PM
But how'd it taste...?

2010-09-07 09:25:14 PM
Morgan Spurlock did this on Supersize Me. It's one of the special features on the DVD. The burger basically melted, but the fries were perfectly fine.

2010-09-07 09:25:21 PM
Meh...I was hoping it would be an animated thingie a la "I took a picture of myself once a day for six years" so we could watch the food degrade. Or, well, not, considering it looks about the same.

2010-09-07 09:25:29 PM
I call shenanigans. The layout of the fries change.

(Some Guy) img1.fark.net 300 years from now people will still be afraid of technology, and Michael Pollan's reanimated corpse will be preaching the virtues of eating "Fast Food, the way our ancestors did, instead of these unnatural nutritient condenser implants and simulated-matter foods."

Hrrr dude, many other countries never refrigerate their eggs. As long has you keep eggs at room temperature they can last upwards of 2 weeks just fine.

If you leave them out in the car, yea you'll have issues, but inside the cabinet in the kitchen is just fine. The only difference is they last longer in the refrigerator.

I guess that this "artist" is not familiar with Beef Jerky or methods of food preservation. Food + Salt + Dry Environment = Preserved.

2010-09-07 09:33:52 PM
I'll second "the fries moved". But I just figured it's because people kept eating the fries and they had to be replaced.

I call total BS.
Check the top of the bun, location of creases, fries etc.
Even a food photographer couldn't keep these looking exactly the same.

Not fer nuthin, even when I was a kid in the sixties you could find fries under the seat that were ages old but looked brand new.

/farkin fries, how do they work?

they use preservatives?? uh i think we all knew that.

Morgan Spurlock already did this.
