Oh my go-Od.

You will be missed. And by saying that, I mean, I am sure someone will miss you.

Is SNL still in its periodic un-funny slump?

I used to wonder why the writing on that show was so bad, when I personally knew a dozen people who could each come up with a great sketch once a week.

Then I realized that SNL probably does hire good writers, but no talented writer would give SNL the good stuff, knowing that their brilliant sketch would be performed by some flavor-of-the-week guest star, with little rehearsal time, and might get cut at the last minute anyway.

I'm going to miss Will Forte, I loved his totally bizarre characters and humor.

TFA: The moving and shaking continues over at SNL: Will Forte's gone, there are four new cast members - including, for the first time since 2003, an African-American - and now Deadline hears a rumor that Jenny Slate may be out to make room for all the new kids,.

Is that just bad English and they mean it's the first new African American since 2003, or are they forgetting....uhm...what's his name. The Good Burger guy?

I think SNL is pretty much farked for good at this point. I know there have been unfunny slumps over the years, but the Daily Show has really pushed it into irrelevancy.

Even as a launching point, I think the Daily Show has kicked off a lot more careers in the past decade than SNL.

Why does everyone always refer to him as the Good Burger guy? Kel Mitchell was the Good Burger guy. Kenan was in the movie, I think, but he wasn't the main guy.

The black guy is Jay Pharaoh and he does pretty solid impressions. He's all over YouTube. His Jay-Z is spot on and he does a decent Obama.

And Bogie never said 'Play it again, Sam.' Forget about it. It's part of cinema history now and it's ingrained into all out lives.

SNL has a lot of good supporting cast members, but other than Sandberg's digital shorts, no real standouts.

People to keep on SNL:

Jason Sudeikis, Kenan Thompson, Abby Elliot, Andy Samberg, and Bill Hader.

Everyone else needs to go, along with all the writers. Seth Meyers can stay, as long as he stops writing jokes.

Have you not heard Pharoah's Obama impersonation?

What it lacks in humor it makes up for in accuracy.

Did you just compare Casablanca to Good Burger?

I just got rid of my TV, and hearing about SNL just makes me think that's the right decision.

The best F-bomb ever dropped on SNL was by Rocket.

Of course that was right around the time the show stopped working and became about as hilarious as a schoolbus fire.

In all fairness, under the right circumstances, I could get more than a hearty chuckle watching a schoolbus fire.

good thing nobody was watching or somebody would've complained

There's something mysteriously and counterintuitively sexy about the alarm sketches...

2010-09-07 11:58:32 PM
OH NOES! Somebody said the F-word on live TV at 11:30 at night?
Ow, my fricking ears! Won't someone think of the sleeping children?

Fer chrissakes, you can say ass, biatch, pussy, shiat and dick on TV, but "fark" gets you fired? fark that biatch pussy ass dick shiat!

2010-09-08 12:14:47 AM
I saw maybe 3 episodes of the past season of SNL, and I swear to God they all had the same sketches: that one about the black dude hosting the talk show who won't stop singing, then that skit about the Latin talk show where everyone dances, and like 40 McGruber shorts.

Please, NBC, give this air time to a show that isn't just phoning it in.

2010-09-08 12:26:24 AM
Keenan is still on that show? What's up with that?

FuryOfFirestorm: Fer chrissakes, you can say ass, biatch, pussy, shiat and dick on TV, but "fark" gets you fired? fark that biatch pussy ass dick shiat!

I really doubt she was fired for saying fark (and the article doesn't claim that at all). Also some of those words are in fact banned by the FCC. You can't say shiat. The others would depend on context.

South Park would like a word with you....162 "words", to be precise.

See Season 5, Episode 1: "It Hits The Fan".

It is a shame that that show has not been funny since the early 90's. With the excepton of the shorts by Samberg. I havent watched it more than 20 minutes on a Saturday night. It just fails to keep my interest.Maybe my sense of humour has left me,but that would be an incorrect assumption I just dont think it has been very good comedy writing. They just dont puit as much into it as they did. And i hardly see any promos for it anymore. The days are gone where i would be excited to watch the show. The last time i watched it was when Betty White was on.

TheSilverOne: Why does everyone always refer to him as the Good Burger guy? Kel Mitchell was the Good Burger guy. Kenan was in the movie, I think, but he wasn't the main guy.

Eitehr way, Kenan is the "What up with that" guy, because that's the sketch that let's him demonstrate his unique ability to take a mediocre joke and run it into the ground, then begin to dig... and then proceed through the water table, continental shelf, mantle, crust, and deep into the Earth's core... and then continue until the entire planet has been hollowed out by his endless repetition of this painfully unfunny sketch.

Subby thinks I would have thought of three other women before Slate, and there are four women in the cast. Subby thinks I think Slate is the funniest.

Atomic Spunk: time since 200

He joined SNL in 2003, he became a featured cast member in 2005. Apparently they only needed on token black person for the last seven years.

I'll check out new episodes to see what they do with Jay Pharoah. He's probably one of the most talented comedians they've hired in a good while.

How many times have we said that? And how many times has SNL pulled itself out of their tailspin? SNL hasn't lived this long by sheer luck. Lorne knows what to do when the show starts sucking too much: keep two or three people and fire the rest.

2010-09-08 03:17:00 AM
Who the fark still watches that show? SNL hasn't been funny since about 1989.
