Canada makes Blackberries. The U.S. makes Iphones. This is why Mexico rules all.

Just two points:

Unlike many of the larger urban schools in America, Canadian schools don't receive funding based on enrollment or attendance numbers, so they have no need to drag the truants in for a few days every term to fill up the books, only to let them wander out as soon as the head count is done.

Also, one of the reasons teens in Alberta are leaving school is the heavily rebounding job market. Not a terrible problem to have.

2010-09-07 09:30:57 PM
So, what are the numbers for American kids? I notice they're not in the story (which kind of makes me wonder how the hell Subby got his headline, but anyway).

Canada is marginally better then America at a sport they invented. Boy, they sure are kicking our asses.

The study says "kids up to 19 years old" yet, (in Ontario anyway) you only go to highschool till you're 18, unless you fail a grade. I wonder if they accounted for that...or is fake study fake?

"This just in: 20% of kids between 16 and 19 are 19, and have graduated."

So here's a story where the graduation rate in the U.S. was 68.8 percent in 2007. The "high" was 1969 with 77 percent. That's not the same metric being measured I guess but still telling.

I approve of the use of postmodern poetry in threads.

Rykel: "This just in: 20% of kids between 16 and 19 are 19, and have graduated."

My dog is barking and seems to want something. Can you figure out what it is?

Canada is on the metric system, so a 19-year old Canadian is really just 16 or 17 in real years... or some shiat like that.

You are hilarious.

Hmmm. So, Norway, Australia and Canada have higher rates than the US. And these are the best OECD performing economies coming in the world right now.

Things these countries are better than the US at: job opportunities.

Wolverines: I found out today that you can't buy Jif peanut butter in Canada. One of my coworkers smuggles it across the border because it's the only brand their kids will eat when they're sitting around the igloo watching the penguins frolic in the front yard.

I miss it so much. You used to be able to get it here, why the hell did they take it away? Screw you, Kraft PB.

You know how they named Canada, right?

All the early Canadians gathered around a hat and decided to draw three letters.

"C, eh? N, eh? D, eh?"

Canada for sure beats America in the milk in bags market and French fries covered with cheese and gravy market.

Go to Price Club. Buy the MaraNatha Almond butter - it's $9 a jar, but it's a big jar. Taste pure awesome, then never eat PB again.

Nononono. You see, it was the Spaniards. They arrived in the prairies and said "Aca nada".

Thank you but I like peanuts better than almonds. I have tried peabutter though, not bad. It's a little pasty but the taste is nice.

I don't really like peanut butter--but I would swim in this stuff. Or wrestle. Or make almond-butter angels.

That's a nice try, but I'll agree about the bacon and Molson. Still, the most popular beers in most developed nations blow. You've still got a ways to go until your trolling is transparent.
