That really looks like a farking kid.

I'd drive just a bit faster.

2010-09-07 04:43:10 PM
I can barely see over the hood of my escalade. How am I going to see that?

2010-09-07 04:43:17 PM
How many points are they?

What if the kid in the image is of someone you don't like? Would you slow down? I know I wouldn't.

2010-09-07 04:43:37 PM
this will lead to kids being ran over for sure.

2010-09-07 04:43:40 PM
I see fail tag coming soon. Won't that train drivers to ignore children?

2010-09-07 04:43:48 PM
Great, so people get used to optical illusions of kids in the streets and begin to ignore them.

Then, Little Sally runs out after a ball and gets killed by a driver who assumed that she was just another stupid speed-bump.

2010-09-07 04:44:08 PM
I predict many break-slamming accidents.

2010-09-07 04:44:28 PM
Whenever I run over a child, the 'thump thump' always makes me slow down. Then speed away, really really fast...

2010-09-07 04:44:39 PM
at least they don't look like bicycles

2010-09-07 04:44:44 PM
I hate kids so this sounds like fun!

2010-09-07 04:44:49 PM
So what happened when you have a borderline schizophrenic start seeing things that aren't there?

2010-09-07 04:44:58 PM
This is a very bad idea.

Ignorant drivers will become accustomed to the speed bumps looking like children... result: A bunch of squished children.

My friend's husband ran over their dog today so this thread sucks. The kid is totally depressed.

Hey, I stopped ramming cars from behind once I saw those Baby on Board stickers.

Beyond stupid.

"Just keep going, it's just a speed bump... ...oh noes!!!!"

"Look out, a kid!"
"Oh, it's just one of those newfangled speed things. Anyway..."

This.

Meaning that you will BREAK things when you slam on your BRAKES.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant...

To be fair, those 2D speed bumps have had no real impact on traffic speed....

I've been seeing a lot of these things around lately:

images.buzzillions.com

They're just enough of a distraction to provide time to run over your kids who are too stupid not to get hit by a car.

Won't it just lead to new brakes?

If it doesn't handle like a real child when you run it over then IMO it's not worth the effort.

If even Farkers can see how this is going to turn out, why can't politicians?

Wait. I think I answered my own question.

I'm sure that will not cause any accidents from people freaking out or anything.

If you really want to people in Van City to stop, design the speed bumps to look like the Japa Dog stand.

Speaking of speed bumps, my sister's dog (a stupid little pug something-or-other) decided that it would be a good idea to run in front of my car and then sit down, rather than move out of my way.

No, I didn't kill it. My 6 y/o neice would've been pissed.

Instead, I got out of my car and shortened its leash. It spent the rest of the afternoon unable to go more than about a foot from the corner of the house.

"Its designers created the image to give drivers who travel at the street's recommended 18 miles per hour (30 km per hour) enough time to stop before hitting Pavement Patty-acknowledging the spectacle before they continue to safely roll over her." (emphasis added)

Uhh... I think the metaphor kind of breaks down here. Slow down and watch for safety as you run over the facsimile child.

There's a lot of those around the McMansion 'hoods...seriously, for a few months I thought they were for...special...kids, y'know, like the "blind kid" warning signs? It wasn't until I was driving through one with a friend who was highly offended when I commented that this particular neighborhood seemed rife with 'tards that I found out the truth...they're for 'tarded parents.

TFA A painting of a child on pavement will appear to be three dimensional when cars get within 100 feet of it, (...) Once the cars pass the ideal viewing distance, the image returns to its two dimensional form.

And I don't even need glasses for that? Wow.

framitz: Ignorant drivers will become accustomed to the speed bumps looking like children... result: A bunch of squished children.

I wonder if they'll be able to use the speed bumps as a defense, they got conditioned to not noticing children so it's not their fault they hit one.

I'd hit it.

Yes let's get used to only slowing down a bit to run over children, and not slowing down at all in rentals. Dumbest idea ever.
