Maybe they should stop living on the street begging people for money and they could eat whatever they wanted?

Hey maybe if you greenlight this a few more times, some of the commenters will finally read it.

Maybe they should stop living on the street begging people for money and they could eat whatever they wanted?

How would dying and having no money let them eat whatever they wanted?

boo-farking hoo.
I'm pretty sure the homeless in that neighborhood are the same type we have here in Santa Monica.

Homelessness; it's easier than working.

You've never been to Haight & Ashbury huh?

Most of it seems to be young people that don't feel like working and want to party in the park with their loser friends.

I remember right after college when i was trying to make it in DC. i was able to survive because of the dollar menu. i'd skip breakfast, have 2 cheeseburgers for lunch, one for dinner, coke at lunch, water at dinner. I was sleeping on a friends couch. that went on for too long, started messing up my brain.

Then it was off to law school.

//an additional 50 cents wouldn't have broken me.

I'm from Chicago and I gotta say... having recently returned from a business trip to SF: I was amazed how more homelessy their homeless are. Here in Chicago they're mostly obese, energetic and obnoxious to the point where you tend to ignore them out of pure spite. In SF the homeless I saw looked like something out of a George Romero movie...

It *is* outrageous to ask for an extra 50c.

I mean, those homeless people can get cardboard and rat droppings from any dumpster for free. Probably tastes better than McD's, too.

I'm lovin' it.

Can't they still suck some dick for either, and save up their begging profits for a Big Mac?

Do you have any idea how much ramen we could have eaten in college with a $4-a-day budget!? And meat? You were living the dream!

BK has the dollar double, is McDonald's THAT much better that you actually REQUIRE it to live???

2010-09-07 05:56:06 PM
maybe the bums should work for a living instead of preying on the emotionally weak?

nah that is way too hard...

No, but BK is like 3 or 4 blockd from that really cool Haight-Ashbury corner we've all seen pictures of. What do you want them to do? Walk?

2010-09-07 05:58:39 PM
The homeless guy sounds alot more likeable this time around when they don't mention that he has a confederate flag tattooed on the back of his head.

Glanced at a shirt the other day that said Help Tackle Homelessness
I thought Help Tackle the Homeless (with a cool logo) would have been better.

As a former homeless guy, I have to say that this story is chock-full of "meh."

IMHO, any homeless person that can't scare up an extra 50 cents is too useless to be breathing.

somehow, deep inside of me, i believe this is obama's fault.

I think the dollar double at BK is better than the double cheeseburger at macs. The two dollar menu at taco bell is also good and for two bucks you can get a burrito or double decker taco, chips and a drink.

I'll be sad when the recession is over and cheap food dries up.

Chicago kills the weak ones in the yearly winter purge. San Francisco has a moderate, bum-coddling climate.

I had a dollar double today, it was ok. The whopper jrs here went up to 1.39, I wonder when they'll cull the other 1.00 items.

How about cleaning up your act, apply for a job at Mcdonalds and stop being homeless. The fact that you're biatching about the price of a crappy burger tells me you prefer to be in your current financial situation more than you're striving to work towards a better future for yourself.

but in bohemian Haight-Ashbury, street people are up in arms, saying they rely on the dollar deals to survive.

If you're homeless because you reject society for some sociopolitical reasons (as is the case with many homeless in San Fran), you're not helping your cause by eating at McDonalds.

HEY FAUX NEWS: It's only 49 cents more! Only raising it to $1.49. Unfair and slanted news! By the way, that McDonald's should raise the price to offset the cost of hiring extra security because of those lowlife bums.
