We actually have brutalities like this happen on a fairly regular basis here in the US and the police are, for all intents and purposes, never prosecuted.

So, yeah, I think it's a wise idea to visit Russia by proxy through the magic and wonders of television.

Ugh, I hate admitting this, but you are right. People accused of minor crimes are beaten and, often enough, killed at the hands of cops in the US on a regular basis. You can youtube police brutality and see the evidence yourself - and this is only what gets caught on tape.

Cops need to be held to the same standard as civilians - harm someone in your custody for any other reason than self defense, you get charged with a crime - "excessive force" just means you'll ride a desk for a week, and it is not sufficient enough of a penalty to prevent brutality.

So what's up with police being the same type of person no matter what country you are in?

I don't have a "set" but, speaking on behalf of some of the ITGs, wouldn't you need to make sure this kid was dead now? I mean, wouldn't you be afraid that if he lives to make it out of the hospital that the final reign of terror he inflicts would be worse than what was done to him?

Maybe the kid had an epic junk kicking coming? The article didn't say what he did. I could see crimes where losing his privates painfully might be fitting and appropriate and in line with the majority of the community's standards. We don't know the circumstances on this one. There are criminals in America that it might be nice if occasionally the cops were able to give that kind of retribution before the "justice" system had a chance.
