Teach them not to stockpile vital supplies.

All CD warnings tell you to keep emergency stuff like candles, bbq gas bottles, and fluids

As Dave Barry pointed out, fluids is a medical term for beer

I use wine for my post apocalypse stash. Only gets better. You tried drinking your 5 year old beer?

Does this mean we have to send keg care packages? I'd hate to see what happens if a chute fails to deploy.

I for one would offer to take some beer across the ditch for my kiwi brothers but that might leave us short here....maybe they could just get loaded on all that extra Sauvignon Blanc they produced?

Depends on the beer. Some get better with age. I had a roommate that had cases of barleywine aging in his closet.

Well, at least there's still:

Tuatara, Three Boys, Yeasty Boys, Renaissance, 8 Wired, Moa, Green man, Founders, Twisted Hop, Mussel Inn, Emerson, Epic,...

Um, let's just do this: wiki (new window)

And these (new window), nice (new window), stores (new window).

If only DB was based on Christchurch. Then we'd be getting somewhere.

Speaking as a beer drinking kiwi I'd have to say losing Canterbury Draught is probably the best thing to ever happen to the NZ beer industry.

This.

Also, yet another perk of homebrewing is having a ready stash of affordable, great beer in case of emergencies.

As God is my witness, I thought beer kegs could fly.

At 1.38 NZ dollars to 1 US, it appears their beer is expensive based on the linked stores.

Where's the outrage, people?

A white, English speaking country is facing a shortage of BEER. This is a potential disaster in the making. We should organize a beer drive for our kiwi brethren ASAP.

Priorities, farkers!

Yup. A 500ml bottle of Emerson's Pilsner (one of the cheaper priced microbeers) is about $6 at the grocery store. That's kiwi prices for ya. Taxes are killer.

As far as I'm concerned they can have all of our Budweiser and Miller. There seems to be a ton of that stuff!

You want us to end up on trial in the Hague, for human rights abuses?

At this stage we're saying that it's unlikely that we'll be doing any production or deliveries [from Christchurch] this week ... [but] I don't think people will be going thirsty

are they nuts???? you know how thirsty you get when you are cleaning up after an earthquake??

I think we should mobilize the US Navy to ship some fine American craft brew's to NZ. After all, we don't want a bunch of angry/sober kiwi's on the loose.
