Mr Livingston, who taught at a regional college, drove the student to his home about May 8, 2008, according to a decision published by a Victorian Institute of Teaching disciplinary panel.

If it's a college student, presumably 18 years old, who farking cares?

A disciplinary hearing was told that Martin John Livingston, 50, allowed the student to perform oral sex on him after telling her that he was lonely.

Allowed? Who prevents oral sex?

I was wondering the same thing. Also, I like how they make "allowing her to perform oral sex on him" sound like harassment. How dare he consent to her advances!

If a boss tells an employee to sleep with him or she'll be fired, they're both over 18, so who farking cares?
Oh, wait... We don't look favorably on using undue influence to coerce others.

The student said in evidence that Mr Livingston had cupped her breast, tried to kiss her and allowed her to perform oral sex on him.

Shiat, if that's a crime I'm in big trouble. I'd allow pretty much any woman to perform oral sex on me.

That's why no charges were filed, but crossing the teacher/student line is generally grounds for dismissal.

You seem to be making an assumption that there wasn't undue influence, and are concluding guilt on the part of the disciplinary hearing members. We don't look favorably on that, you know.
The fact that we don't know all the details based on this article doesn't mean no one anywhere knows all the details.

Additionally, you asked, "who farking cares, they were both over 18." I responded by explaining an analogous situation in which we would care, even though they were both over 18. Now, you're assuming that any comparable situation never happened, hence your reply.
As noted previously, we don't look favorably on such unsupported assumptions.

I recently found out a relatively surprising thing about some schools(colleges). They have no rules against TA's dating students outside of letting people know so someone else can do the grading. I have no idea how common this is, but it strikes me as a bit odd

Mr Livingston and another teacher from the school were cited for developing a "personal development skills unit" and establishing important local partnerships, said a media release issued on May 9, 2008.

Uh-huh. I don't see how, in a strictly technical, legalistic sense, either of those citations are falsified by his actions.

Theaetetus: You seem to be making an assumption that there wasn't undue influence, and are concluding guilt on the part of the disciplinary hearing members.

You seem to be making an assumption that there was undue influence, and are concluding the disciplinary hearing members only fired him because of the influence and not solely the ethical concerns.

You seem to have ignored the police not charging him with any crimes, say for instance, extortion.

Theaetetus: The fact that we don't know all the details based on this article doesn't mean no one anywhere knows all the details.

Please don't let this stop you from jumping to any conclusions. Fark innocent until proven guilty. Write an article about two adults having sex and I say "who farking cares?" Write an article about a teacher saying "suck my balls or you get an F" and then I'd say "I farking care." There is a difference between these two situations, yes? And we can toss out the "but poor innocent 18 year old didn't know any better my poor baby!"

Theaetetus: I responded by explaining an analogous situation in which we would care, even though they were both over 18. Now, you're assuming that any comparable situation never happened, hence your reply.

You caught me. I assumed innocence until proven guilty. Or at least, I assumed innocence until it was even farking alleged guilt. Wow, you're quick to jump to conclusions aren't you? Further, you did indeed bring up a completely different situation where someone might care. That situation is not this situation.

Theaetetus: As noted previously, we don't look favorably on such unsupported assumptions.

No, we don't.
