Are they ever going to do the episode where she goes undercover at a strip joint?

I have a cast she can join.

She was a horrible actress. I'd still hope they bring her over before they bring over private pile.

And for all we know, Law & Order: LA could flop. Can you really transport a show so ingrained into the culture of New York out to California? And will the cases in LA be like Law & Order, or like CSI, where only rich young beautiful white people kill each other?

The problem is, the original Law and Order is no more, and Criminal Intent seems to be all but canceled (Goldblum has already said he's done with it). That leaves SVU and the new LA.

And that's the other problem. Let's say Hargitay leaves for LA. That kills SVU. If LA flops, that's it. Wolf has already broken his string of L&O spinoff successes, since Trial By Jury failed rapidly (I was the only one I know who liked it).

Franchises don't last forever. Maybe it's time to put L&O out to pasture.

On the contrary. I'd love to watch SVU where Finn and Munch are the main characters.

They can bring over Jeff Goldbloom. In fact, they should bring him into ever Law & Order series, and make a series called Law & Order: JGU

//Agrees that she should stay though.

UNC_Samurai: On the contrary. I'd love to watch SVU where Finn and Munch are the main characters.

The show isn't constructed that way. Believe me, I'd be the first to stand up and cheer if that's the direction the show went. I'm so sick of the Stabler character at this point, I keep cheering when he's in the inevitable Stabler-almost-dies episodes. I don't watch L&O for the family stuff. They don't go into it much with Munch and Finn, but a good 20% of the show is Stabler and his family, or Stabler and his rage issues. It's character-driven, rather than case-driven, but not in the way Criminal Intent was (generally). The closest analogy I can make is it's the difference between the flow of Star Trek: TNG and Star Trek: DS9.

If they focus on Munch and Finn, they either have to make them the character focus (after a decade or so, we still don't know much about them, comparatively), or make it more plot-drive. Either way, it's a major change for the show. Unless if Hargitay leaves, and Meloni stays, but that's gonna be awkward. The chemistry really wasn't there with other partners. They might get away with it if they bring in someone from the original L&O, but all the detectives were guys, and you don't want SVU to be a complete sausage fest.

Don't forget NCIS Los Angeles is a friggin flop.

Bring back Bobby Goren!

Seeing as how Detective Munch came from the Baltimore based TV show "Homicide: Life on the Street", I don't see what the big deal is regarding transferring one L&O spinoff character to another spinoff.

They had gold with the lineup on the mothership: detectives lupo and bernard, the DAs, and of course Jack McCoy. And that's the one they cancelled!

I'd rather have the original than a dozen spinoffs.

Is Law and Order: Los Angeles a new show? I've never heard about it. Hope they don't do what they did with NCIS. I love NCIS, NCIS in LA absolutely sucks.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of her character.

Ice-T's badass character, the old skinny guy (Belzer), the bald guy (Florek), and Meloni are all way more awesome.

Even BD Wong is pretty cool too!

Eh, I get my fill of Munch and Finn with their arguments about conspiracy series. I watched the entire Homicide: LOTS series and there isn't anything else I'm dying to know about John Munch. I just want to watch Stabler take his shirt off and dream of an Olivia / Elliot/ Gadian sandwich. Help me out here guys, you have so much TV, let me have this one.

SVU is the only L&O I can really get into.

My friends and I have dubbed USA as the "L&O SVU" channel. They are ALWAYS SHOWING RERUNS.

That and House.

/Try the Wire or the Shield for a good cop show.

I thought Meloni was leaving?

I still like SVU, but it's totally over the top. That one where the burnt guy showed up with 15 seconds to spare in the episode was just crazy.

Eh, I liked Law & Order: Criminal Intent a lot better. Vincent D'onofrio's Det. Robert Goren was one of the most fascinating characters on television, ever. However, I'll give you that Mariska Hargitay is a lot more pleasant to look at, especially when she's all excited n stuff...

Yeah, I'd be down for a show that focuses mainly on Finn and Munch's detective work.

The Wire should be required viewing for anyone here.

The Shield had one of the best - if not THE best - series finales I've ever seen.

Absolutely brilliant, awesome stuff.

RodneyToady: If she leaves SVU, no way SVU survives.

It's been Law and Order: Olivia Benson Saves the World for about the last seven or eight seasons, which coincidentally is when the show started to suck-diddly-uck, so it'd be no big loss. And really, check out her IMdB page (pops) -- nobody is busting down her door to get her to work on their projects. L&O and Lifetime disease-of-the-week movies are pretty much her future.

If I recall correctly, Vincent D'onofrio played a guy who got cut in half by a train on a Homicide episode, making any Munch-Goren team ups awkward. The real reason that the show's moving to LA is because every actor in NY has been on Law + Order at least 5 times already.

Isn't she, like, the highest-paid actress on TV? Not to mention the checks she gets from the endless "SVU" reruns. I don't think she's complaining about not getting other jobs.

Why does this smart successful woman scare you so much?

You have to admit though, there is a certain pathetic quality about the Benson character. Her life is so meaningless and dreams so unfulfilled that if she didn't try to save the world there would be no point to her existence. When she sleeps, I bet she cries herself to sleep after downing a bottle of vodka and farking some stranger she found in a back alley.

The chick who plays a DA and has reddish hair on one of the law and orders first appeared in the same one ( I think its svu) as a high powered chick who, along with her friends, hires a male stripper and then they raped him.

So meh to continuity.

Episode was titled "Subway" and was one of the best Homicide eps ever.

Just because I think she's a mediocre actress doesn't mean she scares me. And what company does she model for?
