Came for pants on the ground, leaving like a fool

What about pants that are hiked-up like Steve Urkel? I'd prefer that people dress a little more modestly so I don't have to be exposed to their socks. I call on all sane people to contact their representatives in congress and outlaw hiked-up pants!

Riviera Beach, FL (a heavily minority town, btw) passed a similar law a few years back. I haven't heard a thing about it since about a month after it passed. I imagine it's pretty much an unenforceable law.

2010-09-05 09:33:15 PM
What a racist law being implemented...

What's next fining men for crossdressing?

Good for Georgia! Why is showing half your ass an acceptable style for guys? I don't need to see your underwear brand.

I remember a similar law (Florida, Georgia or somewhere nearby) being signed into law and getting smacked down rather quickly

Still racist then.

What gives these mayors the idea that their towns can have dress codes?

2010-09-05 09:49:51 PM
Richard Moore said he doesn't like baggy pants. But he said people have a right to dress the way they want.

???

I've never lived in a city in the US where we had a right to dress the way we wanted.

I agree subby.. baggy pants are asinine.

Dear guys: Stop sagging your pants. I do not want to stare at your hairy man-ass. Girls do not want to stare at your hairy man-ass.

Stop showing us your hairy fat man-ass.

Please.

It feels wrong for the city to have a dress code, but it feels okay to me for schools, employers, stores, etc. to have dress codes.

But while I would think most laws against sagging specifically are wrong, I would probably support ticketing some of these folks for public lewdness.

Maybe he'll change his mind when he realizes the difference between baggy and saggy.

Almost all of them do. Don't believe me? Walk around outside naked for a while.

I was going to say that this a violation of free speech and get in to a frothy liberal mess, but then I realized that people sagging their pants are farkin' retards.

Fine them, it's for the good of the world.

2010-09-05 10:09:14 PM
If this is in anyway "racist," that would insinuate walking around with your ass hanging out of your pants is a common trait for black people as a whole. If I were black--which I'm not--I wouldn't want to be associated with that.

In other words, to call the law "racist" is to insult the better side of the black race.

2010-09-05 10:10:53 PM
This has been an ongoing debate since the late 1990's. Why the hell is this suddenly front page news? There's nothing new here.

Which reminds me...why are sagging pants still in style after a decade? I can't remember a retarded so-called 'fashion' statement that lasted longer that a couple of years.

Why are we still talking about this shiat?

You sound like the kind of people that think 'black holes' aren't racist. What, just because they absorb all light means they're a bad influence?!

*facepalm* I'm from near here.

This look of wearing the waist of one's pants around the crotch area is reminiscent of how the fatso retards dressed when I was in school. I don't know why anyone would want to mimic a genetically deficient fashion style, but there it is. That said, I can't get behind a law that takes away from the freedom of expression. People have a right to be as idiotic as they want to be, provided it isn't harming others.

Nick Nostril: I would say that's racist, but I see way more honkeys "wearing" their pants like this than any other flavor.

Most of the people I know that sag their pants nowadays are white kids. I don't know what to think when I see black kids skateboarding and white kids sagging. So I settle for shaking my fist at them both and screaming for them to get off my lawn.

2010-09-05 10:22:19 PM
The people who passed this law don't think to will apply to their own white (grand)son or daughter. They just checked the box on the ballot in hopes of someday seeing a police officer brutalizing a group of young black males in baggy pants, and so get a taste of power to flavor their normal diet of fear and desperation.

I think that fools that sag their pants look like...well, fools. Having said that; how can a city legislate against bad taste? What's next, a crooked hat law? I say let them look like tards.

/I can only imagine this going to court once to be defeated.

I came for this and I leave satisfied.

I see we have some trolls on Fark claiming the ban is "racist."

First, define racist.

Then provide evidence that the law is in fact racist based on the actual, not the Al Sharpton/Jesse Jackson, definition of racist/racism.

Agreed.

As much as I think this fashion trend is mind-bogglingly stupid, it's one of the things I just have to tolerate if I expect other people to tolerate my own weirdness. That's what this country is really all about, tolerating each other's weirdness for the sake of a free society.

2010-09-05 10:40:14 PM
Before we were telling kids they shouldn't dress this way and it wasn't working. Now that we're telling them they can't dress this way, the problem will be resolved, right?

Yes, all those racist city council members don't think it will apply to them and their... white... grandkids?

The restrictions on what we can wear are very, very scant in comparison to what we are allowed to wear.

I forget what city it was that passed a similar law and the court threw it out. Judge said it was a Constitutional right to act like a fool.
