Wait, what? Because it involved the police and a black man modeling it, they assumed it was racist?

You are the racist when you see "cops" and "black guy" and immediately assume it's some horrible, purposeful affront to race. What the hell is wrong with these people?

Slightly less appalling (but still pretty bad) is that they stopped making the shirt no question. Have they never heard of free speech? Or "fark off, dickbags"?

I was wondering this too. Anyone from the Waterloo area care to explain?

You'd think they'd realize that not giving in and then letting the derp brigade drum up more controversy could only increase sales of said t-shirt. I can't think of a single good reason to pull it. Especially since they aren't even living in Waterloo.

I live in Waterloo.

The shirt isn't offensive to ANYBODY except the city council, which is composed of people in denial about how much of a shiathole downtown Waterloo really is, thanks to 40 years of incompetent city government.

For that matter, has Waterloo ever been featured on "COPS"?

Waterloo has a very large Black community (for the size of the city) living on the east side. There has been racial tension before, I'm pretty sure there was a race riot there back in the sixties. Either way, the shirt is saying that the black people on the east side are all criminals. To be fair the city does have a crime problem.

I've seen Des Moines on cops a couple of times, never Waterloo, but I'm not an avid watcher.

Can you farking read English subby?

"A Des Moines T-shirt company has pulled a small run of shirts that Waterloo leaders said were offensive."

You can't even farking read the first goddamned line of the farking article that you rushed to submit because you wanted your goddamned green. Jesus.

Maybe because the reality is that there is a lot of conflict between the black community and the police. This hit too close to home and so, while everyone gets the joke, it is hurtful. the t-shirt company has decided this is not a free speech issue. They made their point, or made their money, and are now compromising with the community they offended. Which is really kind of refreshing. I think it's cool to see a company that made something for profit not try to turn their profit motive into a free speech issue. I think the company has it's priorities straight.

From the Register comments on the story, for some laughs:

"Waterloo: When you need some Illinois, and can't afford the drive."

I recently printed a few shirts (do artwork for a screen printing co.) with "We The People" on it, in the same type, robbed from the internet, as the Constitution. I think it is very patriotic. It also pisses of some of my liberal friends. They don't dare criticize it. After all it is patriotic. Probably could have sold a bunch at the Beck rally.

Hurr?

Bennie Crabtree: the t-shirt company has decided this is not a free speech issue.

That makes no sense, it wouldn't be a free speech issue unless the government decided to make it so.

Correct and nowhere did I see the City Council demand they remove the shirt, only requested it.

Nope, but Des Moines has, especially the one where Officer (now Sgt.) Lori Lavorato jumped on the back of a freaked out naked guy on ecstacy, brought him to the ground and cuffed him. Just awesome, considering how tiny she is. (full disclosure: she's a friend of my son-in-law's family and helped him and my daughter out on some stuff)

/oh,and Raygun has awesome stuff

I thought that the rule for "Cops" was that if the bad boy they came for was shirtless, he was automatically guilty. If he was wearing a shirt, he was usually innocent or the victim. Soooooo, Waterlooians wearing shirts would be the good guys. Why the outrage?

/sounded better in my head

No. No it's not.

I know this from conversating with quite a few people in my time.

Not to be confused with Waterloo, Ontario or Waterloo, Quebec

Iowa is bending over backwards to hide the effects of their piss-poor decision to becaome a sanctuary state for all the hood rats forced out of Chicago after the projects were torn down.

Even police are being punished for speaking the truth about what happened at the fair during "Beat Whitey Night" when roving gangs of black teens attacked and beat up dozens of white fair-goers whiole chanting "it's beat whitey night."

It's been well before that and not just with the hood rats. Drake University has always recruited from the upscale Chicago neighborhoods and this has brought in a good number of spoiled, entitled rich kids. Back in the mid-Eighties, I came across one such douchebag harassing an elderly couple on the road that he thought was going too slow. I chased him off, got his plate number and Drake parking permit number and called it in to the Drake administration. I don't know if anything came of it, but they have disciplined students before for shiat like that.

The police spokes lady was fired for saying there might be racial overtones to beat whitey night. what a farking crock. where's that pain beam gun from the army? perfect for when these punks want to riot. How many riots of black people fighting in des moines this year... i've lost count.
