I'd force every local cop to arrest every kid with a water pistol and file the appropriate paperwork. then insist that the court system prosecute everyone charged with a violation of this act to the fullest extent possible under the law.

the Law is the Law, right kids? no exceptions.

If they allowed people to carry real guns, people sticking up gas stations with toys would probably be less of a problem.

Except it doesn't apply to every kid with a water pistol -- only replica firearms that could reasonably be mistaken for the real thing.

If your kids are running around with water pistols that look convincingly like real guns, you already fail as a parent.

Don't they make those water pistols/toy guns these days in neon green or some other absurd color? When I was a kid toy guns looked damn near like the real thing, but those were simpler times.

Does anyone, aside from myself, when reading news like this, get that awful, sinking and depressive feeling in the pit of their stomach, followed by a headache and a sudden tightness to the abdominal muscles as you realize that global governments are run by f##king morons and there's nothing you can do about it?

It's bad enough trying to make a living without every bored jerk-wad in some official position passing laws that wind up being confusing, overly restrictive and often, far too broad that seem designed to do nothing more that get the average citizen tossed in jail or fined into bankruptcy.

Just think, the fellows who required instructions to be placed on packets of toothpicks also have the ability to send hundreds of thousands of folks into a catastrophic war on the lamest excuse!

Be afraid.
Be VERY afraid.

Christopher Ray from the Law Abiding Firearms Owners said legitimate owners were being "regulated out of existence".

That's the point. You haven't figured that out yet?

He said LAFO was also opposed to police being given "free rein" to take their guns home and leave them on the bedside table.

Police are like Jedi, they never make mistakes.

If you are gunning people down or commiting an armed robbery it makes it harder for the police to gun you down. Federal law precludes anyone convicted of a violent felony from possessing body armor. New York and several other states also have made it a felony for someone to wear body armor while committing a violent crime or using a weapon.

Obligatory Box'o'Truth (new window) links on shotgun grouping (new window). Buckshot is going to make a fairly tight group at the ranges involved in most home defense situations.

It is "too easy" to miss with any gun, including a long gun, and especially a shotgun with no shoulder stock. Successfully defending yourself is far more dependent on training and practice than the choice of handgun vs shotgun.

I don't know: maybe a hand grenade is the only truly effective home-defense alternative.

acronym: Gun laws are such that they have to be registered in case you shoot someone, how does this apply if the gun isn't real?

Because that's not what it's about, it's about making it such a pain in the arse to be a gun owner that no will bother.

Specifically, laws like this are about discouraging ownership by making criminals out of victims. If someone steals one of your possessions and uses it in a harmful manner how is that your fault? Well according to gun grabbers you're a criminal because you made the gun easy for him to steal by only hiding it in your sock drawer. But if that same criminal stabs someone with the kitchen knife he stole out of the block left out in the open in the kitchen you're just a victim of theft.

By that logic if one leaves their car unlocked and a criminal steals it and runs someone over the owner should be held responsible for that person getting run over.

I see. And in this case, there is no restriction on the occasion, background or actual intent of the buyer/wearer. Even for the most lawful citizen around, it's flat-out illegal, period, on the basis that it allows the person protection.

By that logic, shouldn't the public be required to all wear explosive-filled collars that could be conveniently detonated by police remote control?
