Every Spanish newspaper is carrying this story.
Time will tell what this will eventually prove to be:
Another ceasefire or an historical moment?
Zapatero is skeptical.
Add me to the list.

Looking at those outfits, I have to wonder if they pronounce Basque with a lisp.

Headline should have been "Spanish Basque in newfound feelings of unity."

I look at it this way. If you are "fighting a war" and you don't have the balls to show your face, then you are a fracking puXsy and should have your puXsy ass kicked.

Man up you puXsies!

They look like they're related to the guy from Roger Mexico's Photoshop contest entries.

On another note, I love the Basque language. Euskara has a lot of awesome words and a fascinating structure.

The real question, is this good or bad for Jai alai?

2010-09-05 12:19:25 PM
Wait, don't a good number of Basques get a little annoyed when someone says they're Spaniards?.

I'm guessing that's the idea. They are after all, a separatist group.

I'm Basque on my mother's side of the family, she really doesn't mind so much because both Spaniards and Basque share alot of cultural similarities.

It bothers her more that people don't know what "Basque" is, or that more people associate Basque with the ETA. She grew up in Madrid and while she didn't have any problems with her heritage, she said that the ETA were extremely resented by both Spanish and Basque people.

She told me that the ETA were probably the most feared group during her youth.

If nobody can tell the difference between the Basque and Spanish, why don't they just get together and hit a pinata?

Yeah, the National Liberation Front of Corsica.
So if the Basque are being honest, Spain is gonna have its own version of Sinn Fein.

Puxsy sounds like a town somewhere in Mississippi.

The ETA was never a good idea, but after Franco they've just become a sick joke. Hardly anyone in Basque supports them to any extent, yet that hasn't stopped them from murdering people in some twisted ideological fantasy. I mean, really, who supports that kind of separatism when what you're hoping to achieve is a brand of Marxism that went out of style in 1975?

Are there militant Quebecoise? Does the US have any thing close to this, outside some Texan waving the confedorate flag and firing a gun in the air after a few too many beers?

I thought they already had a Basque party. Can't remember the name, though. Anyways, you mentioned something related to Ireland, so that gives me enough justification to post this (new window, separated in five parts).

That kinda clears things up. My brother's working in Valencia right now, and he's told me a few interesting things of the place.

even if they separate, they'll still want to be in the EU, which would make the whole thing pointless...

This will not last. ETA is not happy with a proposed high speed rail line going into Basque Country and they will seriously try to prevent this from happening at all costs.

To be fair, it worked for Franco.
