I am about Michael Jackson's age, and spanking was a normal thing back when we were growing up. Almost every kid in the neighborhood received a public spanking for doing something antisocial from their parents. Nobody ever said a word about it, it was just an everyday occurrence. Nobody called the police for child abuse and none of the kids had to go to therapy over it.
