This might actually make a fascinating show...show the guy bumbling around a crime scene like he's on CSI or Law and Order, only to get berated for contaminating the scene. Or having the cops point out that using the DNA from inside a beach ball the killer blew up and has been passed around a festival concert all day long isn't exactly going to hold up in a court of law (I'm looking at you, Monk). Basically, do the proper research and use the format to completely blast all the mystery shows on TV right now and their complete bullshiat science/research.

Of course, since this is McG, that's not going to happen...but it's a good idea.

That reminds me a bit too much of Robert Smigel and Conan O'Brien's "Lookwell" which featured Adam West as a former TV detective who was made a deputy when he was popular and years later, thinks he can help solve crimes.

You know, in the right hands, this *could* be a fun little show.

Too bad about that whole McG thing, though.

Isn't this what Bored to Death is about?

After watching a ton of the First 48 I know damn well I could be a detective. Not exactly a battle of the minds out there. I'm much more dubious about my ability to be a patrol officer tho.

Appropriate that it's being directed by a guy who thinks he'd be a good director because he watched a bunch of movies on TV.

Sad King Billy: Isn't this what Bored to Death is about?

I think Bored to Death is about a guy who read detective novels, but it is the same principal.

The guy's involved in Chuck and Supernatural and they're seriously two of the best shows on TV at the moment. I'm willing to give this a shot even if the premise is a bit wonky.

I love Supernatural.. just never got around to watching Chuck, though I am aware of the colossal hotness of the female star.

Um, no. This is a show that would have been canceled, but was only saved because it whored itself out for fast food hoagies.

Eh, might be good, might not.

I don't care as long as it keep McG away from another Terminator flim

You missed the "one of the" part of that, eh? I'm not dumb enough to say there's a single best show on TV, but in the group that could be described as such (probably about a dozen titles, more or less), Chuck can easily be included.

Also: Good =/= popular. Otherwise, Jersey Shore would be the best show on TV, and only an idiot would say that.

This, though. The guy has a good sense for TV, a bad sense for movies.

eh, Chuck's pretty good. Granted, it's the only bright spot on McG's resume, but still.

No, more like being directed by a guy who thinks he'd be a good director because he watched all the special features and listened to all the commentary tracks on his DVD collection.

Yes. McG was probably watching it thinking "This would make a good television show!"

Yeah, this is just his attempt at doing Bored to Death. Minus the actors you want to watch in the roles.

Pilot for "Lookwell" (new window)

Newbaca: Chuck's good fun at times. But best show on TV? C'mon you have to be trolling.

It's one of the best shows on network TV, pretty clearly too.

Sure, the third season had some sucky episodes, but when Chuck's on, it's hard to top.

That said, I don't think McG had anything to do with it since the pilot. So there's that.

I think Congress just passed a law banning men over 30 named "McG" from directing films. It's called the "Guy Fieri Douchebag Act".
Failure to uphold this law will result in the confiscation of your Ed Hardy shirts, flip-flops and "bling", followed by a stint in Gitmo.

This is probably also correct.

On a side note, the concept of this show feels like a second-rate Castle or Psych.

I pretty much came in here to say this. Much potential, little hope.

I can't believe this would make a good show week to week, but it was essentially the plotline of a great little movie called "A Slight Case of Murder."

BTW, the movie is worth it just for the cab driver ripping on "Titanic" and calling "LA Confidential" a far superior movie. I happen to agree with that assessment, but it's funnier because James Cromwell was involved.
