I understand, he's done a lot of serious work, but I can't help thinking of him as a joke.

The hit was Willowbrook. Peaking so soon it was all downhill from then.

I concur.

i guess he was a regional reporter in new york who was pretty good once, but that does not excuse 30 years of tabloid nonsense and fox news crap.

my own list:

1. nazi skinhead breaks his nose with a flying chair.

2. Al Capone's vault being empty

3. Various non sensical right wing noise he spouts on FOX

and thats it.

oh wait forgot:

3. Divulges troop movement during wartime, yet is not prosecuted for it.

Hmmmm...

He could have made it an even 100 if he hadn't spent so much time fellating Roger Ailes in the first 50

Me too. But Jerry Rivers pretty much ruined his rep as a hard hitting journalist with nonsense like Al Capone's vault and that stupid "news program of record" crap that started around the time the O.J. thing was happening.

I only know him for doing that Rico Suave song...surprised it didn't make either list

The list is incomplete without his MANY visits, over the years, to legal houses of prostitution.

/For journalistic purposes of course.

Weds Erica Michelle Levy after three year courtship, fifth and final wife

Sure thing, Geraldo.

Geraldo married Kurt Vonnegut's daughter back in the 70s when he was still a local NYC reporter going by the anglicized name of Jerry Rivers.
He apparently treated her like total shiat (running around, cheating, etc) according to Vonnegut. After the divorce Vonnegut would still only refer to him as "Jerry Rivers".
Geraldo claimed it was rascism on the old man's part.

So it goes, bro.

I guess he had some kind of integrity at some point, but if he told me it was daylight out I would have to look out the window before I believed him.

He hasn't been a journalist since Capone's Vault. He actually started out well.

People forget that his Doping of America special is what started the modern war on drugs as well as the Cops style reality genre.

A huge part of modern US life and social/penal policy was because of Geraldo.

Generation_D: Divulges troop movement during wartime, yet is not prosecuted for it.

Of course not. It was on FOX. If he had been working for MSNBC, the right wing would have been all over it.

turned this accidentally, just about to change channels when he says one of the best things about being him was meeting famous people like the beatles.
then paul and linda mc cartney mocked him mercilessly and he acted like he just made some new pals. it was great, you could see the hate in their faces while the stupid ape beamed his chinny grin.
