Can we also look forward to the removal of all racing games because some 16 year old crashed his Civic?

2010-09-04 06:50:14 PM
How about we keep the video games and stop sending 18 year olds off to die?

Oh, now the gamers will never, ever be able to get a copy of this game. Nowhere. In the whole world.

She has set off a storm of protest against Redwood City-based Electronic Arts and its "first-person shooter'' game, which allows players to pretend they're Taliban fighters killing American soldiers in Afghanistan.

Ummm, you know they can pretend that in their head if they really want to, right?

It's kind of farked up people can get so lost in their grief that they could come up with deranged missions to ban games in response, this makes MADD look sane.

2010-09-04 06:54:49 PM
Once she gets done with this she can start on getting chess banned. The game traditionally pits black against white promoting racial intolerance.

I guess she could respect our freedoms, but I'm not gonna bet on that.

Shiat, lady, the video games are the least of your worries in armed forces. They don't shoot back for one thing.

"And this country needs to have a conversation about the place of violent video games in our society, especially a game based on an ongoing war.''

Glad she's got her priorities straight.
That's some weapons-grade derp, right there.

How is this any different than a game involving Nazi's? Germany killed more of our soldiers than the Taliban and every other terrorist organization combined.

People don't seem to think much. It seems like most people just throw themselves into emotional reaction.

2010-09-04 09:32:08 PM
Maybe if the soldiers got to play this game they would understand the taliban and be able to defeat them using their one greatest weakness

what about that lady who shot her kid's xbox and it ricocheted and killed somebody

or was that not real

seriously though xboxes have been at the center of some domestic violence/murder cases

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest spousal abuse happens "around" whatever the person can pick a fight about. To suggest that a video game system can be held culpable for abuse is just silly.

So.. guns don't kill people, people kill people? Got it

Come on, lady. There are so many better reasons for wanting EA to stop making games. That's the best you could come up with?

If only her son had a game available where he could study enemy abilities and find a counter.

There is no connection between teenage car crashes and wartime propaganda. So no, we do not.

TFAMeredith and her fellow military moms don't buy it, saying that by allowing participants to assume the role of Taliban and kill American soldiers like her son, EA has crossed the line.

So assuming the role of an American soldier and killing others' adult "children" is cool with her.

When I played as an "insurgent" in modern Warfare or a "middle eastern coalition" in battlefield 2 or a "terrorist" in counterstrike where was the outrage? Are these not things that could easily be taliban.

eat a bag of dicks you coont

2010-09-05 02:08:29 AM
Wait why does someone whose son was killed by Al Qaeda in Iraq ban a game where you fight the Taliban? It's a different country they don't even speak the same language one they aren't even the same race.

Sudo_Make_Me_A_Sandwich: How about we keep the video games and stop sending 18 year olds off to die kick the shiat out of the Taliban?

C'mon, give those "18 year-olds" some credit. I know too many of these guys coming back and the majority of them get a little sick of hearing about the death count on our side. They always tell me that if the media would just once in a while -just once in a while- reported the numbers of dead Al Quaeda and Taliban over there, people may get a better grip on this whole thing.

Wait. You are making sense. That is not allowed. So, FAIL!!!

"...which allows players to pretend they're Taliban fighters killing American soldiers in Afghanistan"

That's worse than every other videogame ever made where the player can play the bad guy because?

2010-09-05 02:09:57 AM
Makes a degree of sense. Video games desensitize children to violence; quite sad, actually. Since my own brother is in the Air Force, I'm sad to think of him put in harm's way because of a farking video game. Our society is shiat.

So now a soldier has to drive 2 minutes further to buy it.

Mission accomplished....I guess. As much as I am sorry for her loss, It's a volunteer military and indirectly pushing her pain on others is not going to change anything.

Gee, why won't EA make a game that is a personal affront to me? I've got a few relatives that can stand some killing, if that's what it takes.

2010-09-05 02:13:19 AM

Freedom. That's how it works, biatches.

Combat games do come off as a bit unseemly, especially in times that there are those who are engaged in the real thing.

Either raise the enlistment age to 21 or lower the drinking age to 18. That'll get the Neo-conservatives heads pinning.

I'm sorry your son died in Iraq.

This doesn't give you the excuse to curbstomp my freedom to blow up pixelated representations of Taliban-style soldiers.

You know what they say....any press is good press.

I will now buy this game and wear one of my many marine t-shirts while playing the taliban in the game.

Or better yet, I'll buy as many copies as I can afford and give them away to active duty military members.

Go fark yourself lady. I'm old enough to make a decision to join the Marines and I'm certainly old enough to choose what farking video games I want to play. All she is doing is preventing service members getting them w/o having to pay sales taxes.
