You know, why bother putting the "censored" box in it's place?
I understand that's basically what it is, but is craigslist really that petty?

Craigslist should offer free advertising to candidates running against Coakley and the other 16 Attorneys General.

They will just move to different areas of Craig's list. If the government thinks they can stop suppliers by shutting down adds, then they need to look at the drug trade.

Does this effect the NSA ads in the meat market? It's not the best way to get laid but damned it can be interesting

Censorship and the denial of any sort of freedom of expression are for your own good dontcha know?

I've been around when people have called some of these girls, and I have to say, a couple of them were shockingly attractive, and not all faces-of-meth-looking.

2010-09-04 05:47:02 PM
This strikes me as a temporary statement for two reasons.

1.) Why put in the word censored as opposed to just removing the link completely unless you're deliberately trying to make a point.

2.) TFA says that section provides Craigslist with 36 million in annual income. Or a third of it's annual total. I doubt they'd give that up voluntarily.

They're probably just trying to make some point about free speech on the internet for the moment. Car_Ramrod will have a use for his roses again in a few days.

2010-09-04 05:47:16 PM
Ha ha! It still works in Canada.

Um, not that I look at those ads or anything. I only read it for the articles.

What's wrong with voluntary prostitution?

What's wrong with having sex?

Why do they care what we do to our bodies?

These same people send people to war to get killed. It's not like they care about life....oh right...sorry, I was trying to bring logic and reason to politics again...my bad.

Craigslist hooker thread huh? Do I have the perfect link for you!

Loving Judas: What's wrong with voluntary prostitution?

Don't ask these questions unless you want to hear a bullshiat answer. It's more effective to make statements like "Nothing is wrong with sex and it's nobody's business what I do with my body."

Craig's just being all pissy because he doesn't want to spend any of the $30 million he made off those ads to defend against those attorneys general in court, where there's a decent chance he'd win. No one but a judge or a website's owner has the right to shut it down. Get off your damn high horse (or love swing or whatever it is you're riding at the moment) and go hire some lawyers if you're so passionate about the First Amendment, Craig. Or just shut the fark up.

Wolverines: They shut them down late Friday night. I came home from the bar drunk and couldn't even call a hooker.

Lucky for me I heard about backpage.com It's a clone of craigslist that's way better for sexy time.

Backpage, or The Erotic Review.

It's called subtle protest. The police should have used the ads to catch offenders, but instead elected to play see no evil. If it's not on Craigslist anymore then the crimes don't exist. Certainly.

POS worthless cops.

Engage in legal trafficking by training these to be good soldiers who will kill the brown people. LAUGHTER OL. Sex is bad. Killing the brown people is good.

No, the police should be out dealing with real crimes instead of someone who wants to pay for some pussy or sell their pussy for money. And, since they played "see no evil", I'd say they were doing the right thing.

Yes because I will tell you this. You can either give me the beer or give me the cash for me to the buy the beer but this is the best way to get into the vagina of me. Only one of these is the legal thing and one of these makes the Derpublicans have the panty messing.

I wish that these blowhard, "think of the children" types would consider the absurdity of their positions. By continuing to push for prostitution to remain illegal, they're CREATING crime. Shady pimps who terrorize their 'property' only exist because of sex laws. People aren't going to stop paying for p*ssy, so you may as well eradicate virtually all crime associated with it.

Last time I checked, the girls on those legal ranches in Nevada are making a decent life for themselves, at least as compared with trawling the streets/craigs and giving most of your money to a pimp who beats you for the slightest perceived insolence.

This same thinking can be applied to drugs, with exponentially higher effectiveness on cleaning up society. Of course, that's another thread.

People have always been able to find trouble. There is a creep in our area who is going up on federal charges for finding himself a real 15 year old girl in another state. But, if he wouldn't have had Craigslist, he would have found another way to get into trouble. (I'll try to get a greenlight when his trial rolls around- I'm hearing they are going to make a show of his Craigslist ads.)

Craigslist didn't create pedos, prostitution etc. Smart people have always played it smart- the idiots will always find trouble. Craigslist hysteria in an election year? You don't say!

yep. I don't get it unless the police are getting a cut from the local pimps. I understand the morons who oppose legalization for moral purposes, even though I agree with you and want legalization myself.

Oh, please. "Craigy" can do his little passive-aggressive protest thing and get all of you half-assed "legal scholars" riled up about the "man" trying to take away your rights, when what he ought to be doing is a. telling them to fark off or b. taking them to court. Putting up a black box with the word "censored" is so Dr. Laura of him.

I me the love of my life on CL... no matter that he cheated all the time, lied at the drop of a hat, and ended up being a closeted submissive homosexual who dumped me for an Egyptian woman who moved him to her country only to promptly dump him for being a complete weirdo psycho.

Ah, true love and the internet :)
