Regrettably, thr French are spot-on with this. The Roma are known for training their underage kids to perform break-ins. They are insular and abusive to anyone not belonging in their immediate clan. Not the scum of the earth but not too far off.

We had a group of them where I grew up in KS. Smith they all had as last names on their drivers licenses. I did have some cash lifted from the register via some type of scam, when I worked at Kinko's third shift back in '98 or so. I guess they get what's coming to them if they make their living stealing from people.

This reminds me of a story a friend told me once. He was in Naples, minding his own business, and a Gypsy walked up and spit right in his face. While he stood there in stunned disbelief another Gypsy stole his wallet.

Zamboro: For reference, "gypsy" is not a race, it's the European equivalent of what we call Carnies. Except they are more proactive in their attempts to swindle you.

That's not to say it's humane to forcibly relocate them, however. Not a whole lot can justify that kind of cruelty.

If only there was some sort of transient group they could join...
