Very rude on the audience's part, but Axle Rose is a dick and yeah, I'd be pissed after 90 minutes too, considering the price of a ticket these days.

I'm not sorry for the fans. They knew what they were getting when they bought the tickets.

Has Axl ever given an answer as to why he's chronically late to concerts, however illogical?

How does this band continue to sell tickets? I used to love GNR. Appetite for Destruction is still one of my favorite albums of all time, but from the Use Your Illusion release on, they're just not the same band. And Axl has always been a colossal douchebag.

Again? Axle needs to stop being so tardy.

People who go to a Guns-n-Roses show are like people who keep getting back into an abusive relation.

"They've changed this time. I know it'll be different."

But it never is.

An hour or two late is almost like being early for Axl

While it stated they showed up 90 minutes after the support act, the press release from the promoter on Blabbermouth clearly states the band was 45 minutes late - it takes time to change over the stage, final sound checks, pyro safety, etc. It's not a club show. 15,000 people almost had their night interrupted because of a couple of clowns, who were throwing full bottles with caps on, not glasses. Honestly, the shoddy reporting about GN'R I can understand, since Axl has told the media to f-off constantly and never does interviews, but you can see it all on YouTube anyway. The crowd was given a warning, it happened again, the band left, came back twenty minutes later when it was dealt with. I've seen AC/DC, Metallica, and Iron Maiden all do the same. Only in those cases it isn't news.

And WTF? It's a rock show - they're not supposed to start on time. Even if they were 90 minutes late that's no reason to get upset - or if it is you should forget about your upsettedness as soon as they take the stage.

Don't they have security at concerts in Ireland?

Ah, the music tab: all the crappiest hits from the 80's and repeats of Axl Rose being late to the stage. What a waste.

I always assumed he was too strung out on smack before the show, and had to wait until he was quasi-functional to perform. At least thats the way it was on the Use Your Illusion tour.

LSD - Lead Singer's Disease

The tendency for the lead singer of a rock band to become egotistical and impossible to work with. There are a number of factors that can contribute to the onset of LSD including; a natural tendency in the singer to act like a prima donna and treat other people like shiat, the level of fame and fortune the band manages to achieve (whether deserved or not), how quickly the band goes from being dirt poor and unknown to filthy rich and overly famous, and whether or not other members of the band have enough talent to compete with the singer for the public and the media's attention. LSD is often fatal... ...for the band. Once a singer develops LSD there is very little hope of them ever recovering from it. PLAIN ENGLISH VERSION: Lead singer's disease is what happens when a lead singer lets the success of their band go to their head, starts acting like he or she is god and begins to demand that everything be done their way. If they don't get their way their inflated ego makes them think that they don't need the other band members and the band splits up.

tl;dr - Lead singers are dicks

OMG Axl Rose and his scab cover band were late???

To answer the earlier question about why he was late last week in Reading.....HE WAS NAPPING. If I was sleeping when I was supposed to be working, I'd get fired. In the Reading case, the promoter turned the power off. In th is case, the fans threw bottles.

It's about damn time. That crazy bastard is so completely submerged in delusion and yes-men, nobody ever stands up to him.

If everyone would stop buying tickets to see this loser we could stop reading these stupid headlines.

Seriously its "Guns N' Roses"? Axl is the only member left. Rest of them should file a lawsuit and make him change the name to "Rose".

This guy has been a douchebag probably his entire life. He thinks he is a gift to the world of rock. If you want to go see a cool 80's rock band go see Poison. They put on a hell of a show and will even hang out with the fans if they dont have to haul ass to get ready for another show in a different city. Oh they also take the stage on time.

I wish Axl Rose would just go away already. Become a recluse in a cabin way out in the woods and never have contact with anyone ever again. I especially wish he would stay away from music.

Amen to that. When Justin Bieber can take a bottle to the head and keep on going, but Axl Rose has to run and hide because plastic cups are being thrown at him, well, G'N'R is pretty much dead.

Prissy little over-the-hill cupcake.

I'm not sure what sector of the event production industry you are involved in, but that's a crock of shiat. There are very few legitimate reasons for a late start, chief among them being technical/safety issues. There is no reason, barring some catastrophic transportation issue, that the artist should not be on site well before the time doors open for the show. I've been through all kinds of van/bus breakdowns, flight delays, etc., yet have always managed to get my artists to every show more or less on-time. Which is generally early in the afternoon, not 45 minutes after they are scheduled to perform.

Axel either hates performing live, or doesn't care about his customers.

Thunderboy: I'm not sure what sector of the event production industry you are involved in,

The side that pays for it - you know, the audience.

I remember the first time I saw a concert that started on time - I was genuinely surprised and actually a little pissed since I wasn't even in the venue yet.

90 minutes is a bit much but the guy I replied to claimed it was only 45 minutes late - just 90 minutes between bands.

I figured it was to increase alcohol sales (to the band).

At that level, the band isn't getting a percentage of the venue's concessions.

You misunderstood me but that's okay - adding those last 3 words was a lame joke and not about the band getting richer (just drunker).

Again, this.

As for why GN'R was late - some people on here believe everything they read online. So far this week: Axl was napping, Axl didn't go on til 2 minutes before his contractual deadline, Tommy Stinson was quitting the band, Axl was busy having dinner - all of these were sourced from tabloids. A couple of the people at Reading fest posted photos of their guest passes and said the whole band, Axl included, were standing by the stage ready to go on time that night - but for whatever reason were delayed.

Then Dublin - 45 minutes late per the promoter. "A statement from MCD today said he was supposed to be on stage at 9.45pm, but ended up going on stage at 10.26pm" = from the Irish times. Now, given the band has historically paid the fine - yes, it's an inconvenience, but guess what, 45 minutes past stage time? That's nothing! I've waited longer for other bands - it doesn't excuse drunks throwing bottles, or anything else.

As someone who plays for fun and used to go to a lot of local shows where my friends were playing - anyone throwing shiat, for any reason, should be thrown out on their face. Period.

You know, I think that's been changed. I went to see the Canadian Carnage tour in Toronto, and due to traffic, I got there about 40 minutes late. Testament, the first act, was just finishing their set. WTF! I know it was a middle of the week show, but still. I think it was around midnight when Slayer finished. I don't know about you, but that feels early for me.
