The English Major: This really should have the Silly tag, shouldn't it?

Right, right, stop it. This thread's got silly. Started off with a nice little idea about Spammers attacking Apple's Ping, but now it's got silly....These signs are pretty badly made. Right, now for a complete change of mood.

I laughed pretty hard during his keynote with how hard Jobs was trying to dress up a data mining/advertising portal.

Microsoft took that one.

I have an iPod, but I lease it back from the company I sold it to and that way it comes under the monthly current budget and not the capital account.

I'm sure Microsoft will have no trouble with the possible confusion since their search engine is named "Bing".

"Did you go to Bing?"
"No, I went to Ping"
"But I said Bing!"
"I thought you said Ping!"

I'll be laughing even harder when they add concert ticket buying to it and Ticketmaster suddenly becomes about as relevant as MySpace.

It's a bit small for a share certificate, isn't it? Nevermind. You're a rather sharp young lad, aren't you? We could use someone like you around to feed the Pantomime horse.

Probably. iPhone was already trademarked, and they just decided to fight/pay to use it anyway. Apple doesn't really care. They'll use it until they get sued and then pay if necessary.

Is it worth upgrading to iTunes 10 if you don't give a shiat about Ping?

I don't need farking Ping, and it's yet another example of iTunes becoming like farking AOL. I don't need it because there's these things called Websites. Some bands even supply news via RSS, so I get that automatically.

That's a rather arrogant way to go about doing business. Is the name Ping really that awesome that they need to get into a legal fight over it or come up with a huge chunk of change?

Also since it's a generic computer term that's been around since at least the 80s (just my personal knowledge) and probably back in the 70s.

Tide is a general water-related term, but it's also trademarked for the purpose of washing detergent.

"Ping.fm" may not have trademarked their whole name (not just 'ping'), but naming a social network Ping - a similar enough name in the same market space - may be enough to warrant action.

IANAL, but it's similar enough to the iPhone situation to predict what will happen.

I thought that had been out since 2007. I'm sure most ATT iPhone users (myself included) have been feeling farked in the ass for a while now.

Interface has been cleaned up considerably. Seems a bit snappier. Even if you did use Ping, the Ping "network" seems a bit empty right now.
