Wherever he laid his hat was his home

And when he died?

All he left us was
a loan?
Alone?

Never could tell which it was.

Whenever someone asks "what is funk?" I tell them to go listen to this song.

as much as I LOVE this tune, when turning someone on to the funk, you GOTS to go with the band with FUNK in their name ...

P-Funk

Good find subby.

I'm thinking alone, cause he was too lazy and shiftless to get a loan.

How many other singles glorify deadbeat dads? Try and name one.

No, really. Please name one.

And "Had a Dad" by Jane's Addiction doesn't count.

"Jeremy" by Pearl Jam, maybe? What's that stupid song by Everclear? "Father of Mine", I think?

Dunno if "Serve the Servants" by Nirvana counts.

Stone groove, but what happened to the rest of the lyrics? Lame video is lame.

Jeremy does briefly mention a dad, but it's not clear he was a deadbeat.

That Everclear song is close.

I don't think Serve the Servants counts either, in the same way that Had a Dad doesn't. Both are fine choons though.

PJ, Everclear, Nirvana... ah, the good old days of teen angst and being neglected by our parents. Oh, and at least 12 bands that wrote songs about it.

Also, Pearl Jam's Betterman? Maybe dead beat not-yet-dad?

I thought that guy was just a busy dad rather than a real honest-to-bog deadbeat dad, but then maybe that's just a question of semantics.

I wonder if anyone's ever written a song about how sad they've felt when their boyfriend or girlfriend broke up with them.

Anyone know where I can find the mix between this song and Deadmau5's 'Ghosts 'n Stuff"? That was some brillian shiat right there.

Like the Was Not Was version.
