And they say Atlanta is a progressive city.

2003-06-14 09:56:23 AM
"Excuse me, is this the line for beer, or for tickets to get beer?"

"I don't know, faggot."

2003-06-14 11:34:13 AM
Yeah, sure, one station speaks for EVERY person in Atlanta. It is progressive, even though one farking station is retarded. But I guess it's just easier to make redneck jokes, isn't it? Easier than actually thinking.

bitter are we?

Cue the theme from "Deliverance".

2003-06-14 11:45:38 AM
That's ok. Even though Atlanta broadcast stations are sometimes conservative, have no fear. The next time there is a bloody mess on the highway, every farking Chopper will be there zooming in on the carnage.

Oh, and ATL is apparantly the place to go for a good strip joint. Not that I go to the pink pony or anything... *ahem*

2003-06-14 11:46:54 AM
Ok, they won't show the maxim tv special because it's "not consistant...", and yet Atlanta's Gay Pride festival is coming up soon. Why the difference?

2003-06-14 11:47:03 AM
At least the newspaper report didn't pander to the tv station, and promptly kicked them in the balls with Fear Factor (crap) and Law&Order:SVU (super crap).

2003-06-14 11:48:05 AM
GOD DAMMIT

2003-06-14 11:49:10 AM
Whew...I'm glad I don't live in Atlanta. Otherwise I'd never know who the 100 hottest women are.

2003-06-14 11:55:12 AM
So what? Maxim sucks, anyway. It's like GQ, only for heterosexuals. *yawn*

2003-06-14 11:55:16 AM
And "Friends" is "consistent with NBC's emphasis on quality programming"? Bullshiat.

Coming soon to Atlanta, Law & Order: SUV, now with 30% more cargo room and 110% less Sam Waterston(whose son is a jerk).

2003-06-14 11:55:46 AM
i wish i owned a TV so i could get upset about this.

2003-06-14 11:55:55 AM
So who's gonna be the Weeners the NBC complain department e-mail address on the front page?

2003-06-14 11:58:06 AM
Yeah, Clustersnarf, according to Cypress Hill, we've got the best strip clubs in the country here. And I don't even want to think about what this world is coming to if you can't trust Cypress Hill.

Atlanta pwns, wxia doesn't. I didn't even know there was a Jimmy Kimmel Live show.

Maxim's top 100 list is severely farked up to begin with. C'mon now, Tina Fey is up there at #80! She's by no means ugly, but certainly not one of the 100 hottest women in the world. Meanwhile, Heidi Klum, Cameron Diaz, Rebecca Romijn aren't even ON the list. Am I not understanding this list properly? What's goin' on here?

Satellite anyone?

they are doing the same thing in milwaukee. They said it was "cheaply produced". They are replacing it with a conservative talk show on milwaukee issues... True story...

2003-06-14 12:05:25 PM
Mike2834 - I'd bang Tina Fey before Cameron Diaz... as for Rebecca Romijn, she has been soiled by Uncle Jesse. Heidi Klum though... thats a shame, she should be on the list.

2003-06-14 12:05:43 PM
Hell, if they have Christina Aguilera at the top of the list, then this affiliate made the right move. No one should have to gaze upon that skank monstrosity.

"Quality Programming" ... NBC ... what's wrong with this picture?

On the bright side, maybe the good people of Atlanta will get to see a Billy Graham crusade or some "family" programming like "The Walton's".

Yeah, sure, one station speaks for EVERY person in Atlanta.

Actually, two. Another station won't air Jimmy Kimmel.

But I guess it's just easier to make redneck jokes, isn't it? Easier than actually thinking.

Not as tough as reading the damn article, I guess.

Funny that you should say that, since Atlanta's NBC affiliate shows the Billy Graham thing every month or so.

What I can't figure out is why they also show Graham on network TV in Seattle. Go figure.

Brianewart - Methinks you're a little confused here. Cameron Diaz is the supreme hotstress from such films as She's the One, There's Something About Mary, Charlie's Angels, etc. Tina Fey on the other hand, is the relatively plain faced actress most famous for her work as head writer for SNL and co-host of Weekend Update. If after this clarification, you still find yourself desiring Tina Fey over the Diaz, perhaps your TV/Glasses need a nice Degaussing.

2003-06-14 12:24:28 PM
Who cares, we have so many strip clubs here there's a shortage of college students.

2003-06-14 12:26:25 PM
Cameron Diaz's head looks like a goddamn pumpkin.

she's hotter than regular women, but she's in no way hotter than all the other stars.

Atlanta, now with 30% more gridlock.

There are some things I miss about the place though.

Ok, only one, but they closed anyways. Fijileros was the shiat.

NBC is going to ruin the American version of Coupling. The English show is so great, but I know the American one is going to suck ass, and be just like Friends or something...

Copthill: Let me impart some wisdom.

It's simple HTML tags. (Kinda sad if that is all my wisdom)

Use this site. Click on the HTML cheatsheet on the right.

Steps:
1)Open Carrot
2)The tag you want to use. "B" for bold, "I" for italics, etc.
3)Close Carrot
4)Type whatever you want in that format
5)Open Carrot
6)Forward slash = "/"
7)The tag you used. (B or I or whatever)
8)Close Carrot

/faints from exhaustion

Another network tried to do a version of Absolutely Fabulos a few years ago. I think Roseanne Barr/Arnold/Psycho had something to do with it.

BTW, there's a joke that Atlanta is still rebuilding (there is perpetual road construction here).

I need to go back down to Atlanta, but I will wait until after the summer. Lewis Black said it about Miami, but it applies to Atlanta. Walking around in the summer in Atlanta you have this feeling like "gee, I should have put deoderant on my balls".

I think the major networks should take away local stations affiliate broadcast rights if they don't broadcast what the networks send them. What is the point of being an affiliate if the local station has veto power over what they want to show?

2003-06-14 12:46:01 PM
"Coupling"? You know the American version will be just like friends? Christ, that's all the English version is, a "Friends" clone for limeys.

"NBC is going to ruin the American version of Coupling. The English show is so great, but I know the American one is going to suck ass, and be just like Friends or something..."

NBC Coupling: An american version of a british version of an american show called Friends.

But their version is actually funny.

"But their version is actually funny."

I rented the DVD's and thought it was overhyped. It wasn't any better than Friends.

This North Carolina Farker won't get it either nor do we get Jimmy Kimbel. On the bright side we didn't get who wants to marry a millionare a few years ago. The struggle continues...

2003-06-14 12:55:33 PM
Someone could take a dump on a running camera and it would be better than Friends.

2003-06-14 12:58:00 PM
I am completely disappointed in my fellow FARKERS. WTF??!?
You have an article that is about Maxim magazine and NONE of you post any shots of maxim women??!?!

They only difference between Coupling and Friends is: a) the accents and b) the size of the apartments

Christina at number one? Somebody has been snorting something.

You have to be either blind or stupid to not see the difference between Friends and (the British) Coupling.

The writing on (the British) Coupling is MUCH more clever and very witty. The character interaction and the characters themselves are far more interesting. The jokes are actually FUNNY and don't insult my intelligence. It also pushes the envelope content-wise far more than Friends could ever dream. Just because they're both shows about a few people who live in the city doesn't mean theyre similar.

I HATE Friends and can't stand watching it for more than 2 seconds. (British) Coupling however is something consistently hilarious.

But the US version will be tainted, watered-down and crappy just like the American remake of everything else. What are they going to do next, US Father Ted and US Black Adder?
