2010-09-02 04:27:08 PM
I caught it last night, made for one hell of a bbq.

And people say eels are disgusting... clearly they never heard of Worcestershire!

2010-09-02 04:27:28 PM
Even mythical creatures need vacations. Why it chose clearwater is beyond me.

2010-09-02 04:27:29 PM
Well, those pictures are very convincing, and the article was well worth my time to click. Call me crazy, but I think this is legit.

It's all about the heat. Low and slow.

Manatee-meter?

2010-09-02 04:32:03 PM
Geez - what's this world coming to? I can't even go swimming in the canal without my trunks on? Come on - I know it's huge - but do they really need to call it a monster?

2010-09-02 04:32:19 PM
Yeah, there's nothing like that living in the ocean.

www.bloodydecks.com

It must be a prehistoric monster.

2010-09-02 04:33:10 PM
Oh the Huge Manatee!!!

2010-09-02 04:33:50 PM
Tourist is from Ohio, location of incident was in Florida. Someone asks them to divide 22 with 7 so they can have another mystery on their hands.

Stupid people, stop reinforcing your stereotype,

2010-09-02 04:33:53 PM
Irrefutable indeed. Kind of hard to ingoring the hard-hitting evidence of an old finger pointing at what appears to be an invisible something on a computer monitor.

2010-09-02 04:35:20 PM
This article lends no credence to this story.

no that video he had definitely wasn't of a manatee surfacing for air. No, not at all.

Okay, if you see it all the time, get close, harpoon the damn thing and drag it in. If it's a manatee, well, then pay the fine.

2010-09-02 04:45:17 PM
Sedatedbylife: no that video he had definitely wasn't of a manatee surfacing for air. No, not at all.

We might as well all go home, now. First thing I said when I saw the pictures.

I have no doubt that unusual marine animals can swim in our Gulf canals...In Hudson beach, about thirty years ago, we had TWO hammerheads over ten feet, and a six hundred pound tuna caught the same year.

But that? Manatee.

Pinner: If it's a manatee, well, then pay the fine.

And expect a not so friendly visit from me.

Let's see now. A motion detector activated movie camera. Likely hours upon hours of motion activated filmography. And that's the best? The one head bob and a grainy-assed clip? Thanks for the effort. It really paid off.

OK, even though that was presented on the worst website of all time, giving me approximately three pixels to evaluate, I can still tell that those were some of the worst supposed monster pictures anyone's ever produced. You can vaguely tell there's something swimming through the water. From that, we're supposed to deduce, what? That there must be some previously unknown giant monster living out there?

This world is pissing me off more and more lately. I need a vacation.

2010-09-02 04:47:55 PM
with so many normal sort of things it could have been, why assume it is some sort of "monster"?

every time someone sees an odd water stain on a wall, or a burn mark in a potato chip they claim "divinity" before saying, "hmm maybe we should fix that leak" or "geez the quality control at that chip plant is really bad"

WTF? Are you people that STUPIDsticious haha combind stupid and supersticious stupidsticious. Look that velevet painting of someone no one every made a picture of!

2010-09-02 04:48:56 PM
What were those prongs coming out of the water in the video while they were talking about anacondas?

2010-09-02 04:48:58 PM
ReverendJasen: It must be a prehistoric monster.

Functionally, that's what alligators, sharks, and turtles are.

2010-09-02 04:49:12 PM
They could also be otters. They have huge heads and when swimming, they often will hold their that head out of the water. Also, their wake can make them appear bigger. In fact, this summer we were staying at De Soto Park, not far from these places in the story, and I spotted one at dusk. It looked just like a little loch ness creature when it was swimming across the bayou we were camped on.

Scientologists enjoy swimming as much as anybody else. How is this news?

The creature it likely is:

2010-09-02 04:52:46 PM
It's Florida. So it's either an alligator or a feral python. Or a mutant hybrid pythongator.

2010-09-02 04:54:26 PM
It looked like a seaborne streetlight to me.

I want to believe.

My hometown has a power plant by the Caloosahatchee river. The hot water run off causes manatees to come upstream to keep warm during the winter months. So I've seen my fair share. As soon as I saw the video it was obvious the people that ran that story either haven't lived in Florida that long or want some ratings really badly.

Next up, mysterious dog eating lizard monster moves into local lake. Story at eleven.

Oh, it's just a chobie. They have teeth like pillows, no worries. Now the ogres, those might pose you some problems.

/yes, I used to read Xanth novels, why do you ask
