Happy Caturday everyone!
Caturday "regular schedule": Caturday runs from sometime Thursday afternoon (for TotalFarkers), posts to Main at 8AM on Saturday morning, and runs until sometime very early on Monday morning. please do check it out on Sunday and Sunday night as well, as some of the best stuff, late answers to questions, and of course, some very good CAD
TM
will show up later than the typical Saturday afternoon.
Some of the best stuff gets posted quite late in the thread.
FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE BEEN LURKING AND NOT POSTING:
take the plunge! post some "blanks" of YOUR kitty and see how fun it is to see your kitty in lights and your family's kitty might get a fun or silly caption of his or her very own!
a detailed "how to post pics on Caturday and on fark in general for dummies" page
can be found here
(new window). once you get the hang of it, posting pics is very easy, but it can seem daunting if you haven't ever done it before. take a look at that web page and hopefully it will make sense. there's even a bonus section that shows how easy it is to caption your own pics.
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE A NEW KITTY THAT NEEDS A NAME:
introduce your new charge(s)! perhaps we can have a naming "contest". post a pic of your kitty and let everyone make suggestions. some of the ones Caturday comes up with are hilarious and often very appropriate. my guy, "LittleOne", recently got his new long name "Jester Lord Fluffy Bottom" (partly mine and partly another lovely farker's - take credit you-know-who!).
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE A KITTY WHO IS UNDER THE WEATHER:
please post details and pose questions. Caturday is a wonderful place to get help as well as have fun. many of us, having had lots of kitties and having taking care of their lovely and many, many lives and, unfortunately, injuries and illnesses, have become "kitty health resources". post the issues and we'll all see if we can help, and for myself,
please feel free to email me
(my address can be found in "
how to post pics on Caturday and on fark in general for dummies"
(new window) and is "things.i.do.to.my.cats (at) gmail.com").
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LOST A KITTY TO THE RAINBOW BRIDGE:
for those who have recently lost a kitty, please do let us know. please show us your pics, tell us the story. sharing helps. a wise person once said
"a joy shared is twice a joy, a pain shared is half a pain"
. tell us of the lovely times of days past when kitty was around. tell us of your heartbreak at losing kitty. it's safe around here; no one will judge. most all of us have been there and will sympathize.
FOR THOSE WHO THE REST OF US DON'T KNOW WELL YET:
there is a fun map that was started by
KimJ
that shows where various of us Caturdayians are around the globe. to see it and hopefully contribute, go to
KimJ
's Caturday map
(new window)
FOR THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO BE KEPT UP ON CATURDAY GOING'S ON:
if you would like to be kept up, just send your fark name and email address to
CaturdayOnFark (at) googlegroups.com
or go to
http://groups.google.com/group/CaturdayOnFark
and add your name to the infrequent email list. an email goes out once a week or so with the current Caturday thread and this or that other tidbit of info. please do be sure to include your fark handle.

CONGA-RATS!!
The above-pictured fuzzy cat has had an interesting week. I ended up working several days I don't typically work, so she got a bit of a reprieve from the vet. I called the vet's office on Tuesday to set up an appointment and talked to a vet tech. She said to try giving the petromalt or some tuna in oil to Lucy as it sounds like a hairball issue to her, too. Night one after a dose of petromalt, little miss fuzzy butt didn't get sick! She made it about 48 hours w/ no vomiting, but now it's back again... **sigh** The tech said to give it to her for the rest of the week through the weekend and see if she either horks up the hairball or it goes through the other way. If she's not better by Monday I'm supposed to make an appointment to take her in. Here's to hoping it somehow gets better for longer periods of time!!!
Also, I bought some of the clumping Feline Pine and am working on the switching process. The cats are ok with it and the few pieces of sawdust I'm finding on the ground don't bug me as much as finding pieces of clay litter on the ground, so I think we'll be fine with it. Just means I'll have to vacuum more often (like I should anyway.....). The other varieties of litter suggested I couldn't find around here. Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas!!!
I finally took some new pics of Lars and Lucy this week - box pics ftw! They've never shown interest in boxes before for some reason. I'll post those soon :) **hugs** to those who might need them!!!

Bless you, Caturday-ians. You saved my cat.
Sasha
has had a rough week. Vet #1 10 days ago said there's nothing we can do, said fluids and gave antibiotics. You know all that. After realizing I didn't know WHY we got antibiotics, and being asked last week (I asked 100 questions...just not that one), I started to think a second opinion was a good idea. The Sasha got dramatically worse on Sunday, losing most of the function in his back legs. Hobbling to the litter box and either getting stuck in it or too weak to make it back to the bed. Broke my heart. Feared he wouldn't make it through the night. Bless the animal eye vet who got back to me on Sunday at 5pm to refer me to the BEST place ever. Took Sasha in (Rohnert Park, CA VCA), and they took blood and urine, and checked his blood pressure. Gave me an appetite stimulant, then the next day gave me a potassium supplement and told me to give him Pepcid AC for stomach acid. And fluids, of course, 2x/day. After eating nearly nothing for 3-4 days, he's now eating every hour or so. Little bits, but eating ever since the very first appetite stimulant pill. He's gained weight; I can tell when I lift him - he now *has* weight and looks less...wasted. Walking gingerly but fine. Takes the pills with startling ease, and is even starting to squirm at the fluids, which is a sure sign he's feeling better. He's currently resting on my lap, which he hasn't done since this all started about 2 weeks ago (and it used to be daily). Of course, the sudden eating has upset his tummy, so he pooped all over hisself this am and I am slowly getting it all off (he's still so frail!). So....it reeks. But I loves him, so he's fine right where he is with his mama.
PS QJ I LOVE that Russian caption of Sasha. :)

Oh, and Vet #2 said he saw NO reason for antibiotics. And I thought I had a good vet. Consider a second opinion if you don't like the one your vet (or doctor for that matter) gives you. And/or talk to the Caturday-ians. I don't haz a sad this week because of you. :)

I am so glad that Sasha is feeling somewhat better. When my old kitty was getting frail I found that I could tempt her to eat if I gave her some baby food chicken or turkey with no onions in it. It is something I always keep on hand now for this kind of emergency. Good luck with your Sasha.

Swee'Pea found a new home, along with one of the local kittens who was wandering the street. The couple came to get the local kitten, (who was very friendly and had no business being outside alone, he was too small) and before they came they asked what happened if they couldn't make up their minds, could they take two. Well Swee'Pea must have heard this because she was all over them I guess.
