Investing in Afgan real estate is like investing in dynamite after someone lit the fuse.

There is real estate investing in Afghanistan? Who knew there was a speculation market on mine fields and caves

Coming soon to HGTV - Flip this Hidey Hole

Look at you Afghanistan, all grown up and bailing out idiots already. Excuse me, I think I have something in my eye.

Americanized? You're full of shut submitter.

Anyways, Afghanistan doesn't seem like a good place for real estate investments. Unless is mosques, I suppose the Taliban likes those.

I don't care who you are, where you are, etc. If you invest in risky investments and lose, too f'n bad. You won't share your profits, so no one should share the debt load.

What real estate is there to invest in in Afghanistan?? Some tarp huts??

They invested the money in other countries real estate. Islamic countries. They are forbidden from making a profit.
It worked.

I do recall stories from about a year ago about the median home price rise skyrocketing in their more urban areas.

Yes that would be interesting, well you haven't got a clue what channels I watch, but still, I'd be fascinated to hear about your prejudice, and how you arrived at it.

In fact, I'll be surprised if you even understood my post. :)

Which investments AREN'T risky these days? To perpetuate the belief that you too can make money, if only you had money, is akin to charging people for a crumbling toll bridge, that is unscalable to the population, and increasingly dangerous to cross.

It's just a matter of time before it collapses, and they'll turn to those using, to rebuild it.

Take the recent 50% benefits cut recently experienced in Ontario. The moment government mandates the existence of banks and insurance companies as "pillars" of financial success, the people pick up the tab.

If you, as a financial institution, cannot turn a profit, then by the very same capitalist rules you champion, you should be mandated to pay your contributors BEFORE their money is gone, then dissolve completely.

One of the guys calling for this bailout is Karzai's brother, up to his ears in the drug trade and a major shareholder in a major money-laundering service bank. I really, really feel sympathy for his sad plight.

Dumbasses, I invest in pumpkins. I mean the stock keeps going up as we get closer to October, I don't know why but I can't see it ever going back down.

They don't champion capitalism. They champion "getting paid, from anyone and everyone". Pure selfishness.

This year, I'm investing in pumpkins. I got a feeling they're going to peak right around January. Then, bang! That's when I'll cash in.

Shirley you're not suggesting we hand out the names and addresses
of all the people most responsible for the current economic crisis
to terrorists? Who knows what kind of uncivilized retaliation might
ensue? You'll need to help them purchase guns and a nice road atlas
or GPS would come in handy.

Ruined the joke by making it too obvious, but carry on.

Funny enough, that's EXACTLY what Karzai's brother is begging for at this moment.

I thought it was the other way around:
We are becoming more Afghanized when our banks fail and corrupt politicians prop them up with money they strongarm from us peasants.

Yeah, I know...

why are we fighting over there again? Oh yeah, to make them more like us (US).

Read this story and then ask yourself if the old Star Trek "Prim Directive" shouldn't apply? Afghanistan is too far off the deep end to ever fix. I would send Chris Hanson over.

On the off chance you are serious, you might try living in Afghanistan for, say, a week.

And can I have the stuff you leave behind?
