If you want to commit suicide, how about you try it in a way that isn't going to affect or harm other people? I remember reading an article (posted on Fark) about some suicidal lawyer chick that planned to steer into oncoming traffic to end her life. Selfish twat.

I came for Costanza.

/not disappointed

I'd hate to get in an accident after I just gassed up the car, because that pretty well doubles the value of the vehicle.

2010-09-02 01:29:46 PM
A Dodge spokesman, seizing the opportunity, said it was the Charger's "high-strength steel structure" that cushioned the man's fall.

This made my day for some reason, thanks no shame spokesman guy!

Wonder if th guy has any value for his life now. You'd think on the way down he must have thought, at least for a second, "Hmm, this wasn't the best idea."

Sybarite: Jeez dude, find a bridge.

Aurora bride jumpers frequently hit things other than the water.
Years ago, some guy landed on an SUV while the owner was inside on his phone. He didn't get a kick out of it.

2010-09-02 01:31:55 PM
Failed at life, failed at death. Not much more the guy can fail at.

/would be super pissed if some waste of space fell on my car too.

2010-09-02 01:32:11 PM
He was trying to get away from the pigman...

I understand where she is coming from. I love my Charger :)

What a lucky SOB. Just imagine what he remembers of this event.

I'm sure the oil's fine, lady.

Too bad it wasn't a KIA or Hyundai he farked up.

Agreed.

And if that had been my car (which is a Neon, not a sexy sexy Charger), I would have said roughly the same thing, only I would have added profanity and several comments about how my shocks are for shiat already and didn't need his farking help.

The last paragraph is comedy gold:

Not only did the man survive the 400-foot fall, he only suffered some broken bones and blood clots. A Dodge spokesman, seizing the opportunity, said it was the Charger's "high-strength steel structure" that cushioned the man's fall.

Yes, when I think of a cushion, the first thing that comes to mind is "high-strength steel structure."

Maybe it'll be the next big thing in mattress construction.

I thought he should have played up the crumple zone. To me high-strength steel that can't fend off one falling man seems to fail at the description of its strength.

A detective on the scene was seen handcuffing himself to the jumper then tossing the key away...

I would have kicked this guy's ass if he fell on my car.

There were better quotes in the NY Post:

"I miss it. It's my baby," moaned Maria McCormack, who regrets lending her husband the 2008 Dodge Charger Tuesday for work. "I want to meet [Tom Magill] and say, 'Why? Why my car out of all the cars in the city?' "

Ooooh, a base 2008 Dodge Charger with a V6. I thank God that Enzo Ferrari isn't alive to see this travesty.

"I was going to get the front brakes done . . . but thank God I had a migraine!" she said. "I can't believe my car is gone.

Only 2 years old and you're getting the front brakes done? Is it the usual Chrysler warped rotor problem.

"I've had other cars, but I really loved this car."

I've rented this car. I don't see how anyone loves it. Maybe if I had only driven a Trabant, a Yugo, or a PT Cruiser, then I would think that this car is the bees knees.

I have to say, in the face of his wife's behavior, the husband is awesome.

Meh. I think it's appropriate. No need to be sensitive to the needs of an asshat who'd try to kill himself in a way which could very well kill someone else innocent. Seriously, jumping off the roof of a tall building in one of the densest cities on earth? He seriously could easily have killed someone.

FARK that guy. I'm glad people aren't treating him with any respect, he doesn't deserve it.

2010-09-02 01:36:37 PM
The lady didn't deserve or ask for any of it. Some guy damages her car greatly and now she has to deal with getting it fixed - and paying the deductible to boot.

I have more of a problem with the shameless plug about the car at the end. That farker should pay the deductible and provide a loaner car during repairs. Jerkface.

2010-09-02 01:36:56 PM
It's more than an inconvenience, it's a pain in the ass. Getting a rental, and dealing with body shops is not what I prefer to do in my free time. Plus cars that have been in accidents are never the same as before. The guy should have went out like a man and strangled himself with his own hands.

2010-09-02 01:37:02 PM
I would be pissed too. But I would keep it to myself.

2010-09-02 01:37:31 PM
...and just had her turn signal fluid topped off.

Occam's Nailfile: Wonder if th guy has any value for his life now. You'd think on the way down he must have thought, at least for a second, "Hmm, this wasn't the best idea."

I wish I can remember the researcher who discovered this but a psychologist interviewed a large group of survivors who tried to kill themselves by jumping off of a bridge (not sure if it was THE bridge though). Every single one of them said about half way down they immediately regretted it. This was something we had to examine in a course I took that was about Death and its presence in religion and society today.

Approaching the hospital administrator demanding compensation was priceless.

That's only because you do not know the riddle of steel.

On topic, I don't know if the mods would be okay with me posting this photo in the thread so I'll just link it. I always thought it was a beautiful photo even though the subject is dark as hell. It was a young woman who literally days away from getting married. She went to the observation deck of the Empire Start Building, took off her shoes, left a note, and jumped.

That's a neat documentary but it is filled with too much fluff(interviews with the jumpers) and not enough jumping footage. I guess a normal person would find it interesting as is but I'm the kind of person who likes to watch only the first half of the show Intervention. When the actual intervention starts I get bored and change the channel.

I remember seeing that in Time Magazine at school when I was in about 3rd or 4th grade

The owner of the car is an idiot and deserves to lose her precious Dodge if she can't figure out how to leverage all this free and mostly upbeat publicity into a far better new car and some cash.

That is a beautiful photo. It looks like she found the perfect spot to take a nap on someone's wrecked car.

my ex had this car. i called it the bat mobile. they were both so big, so black, so shiny and sooooo beautiful. i miss them both.

as for the woman in article, id rather have a broken car than a broken spirit but at least her "better half" has compassion.

Glad to see she has her priorities straight. The car is worth a whole lot more than a life.

Dodge should definitely pay the deductible. They generated a bunch of free publicity which greatly exceeds the deductible amount; hell they should replace the car for the biatch and her husband.

Sadly the car does not live up to its namesake. farker should have been street pizza.
